Yet another prototype thread...

How about some more details on the A8 prototypes out there or that may exist? Curt, please help :D

On the Atari front, according to Curt, there's Liberator. Xenophobe and Mat Mania Challenge are somewhere as well. Any others? FutureMakers series? How about stuff from Atari UK or Atari Germany?

We also got an early beta of McDonald's from Parker Brothers. Any others?

How about games from other companies? Electronic Arts, Epyx, Lucasfilm Games, Zeppelin Games...?

Liberator has yet to be found, but the programmer confirmed that he indeed was programming it (some paper work has turned up to support this as well). Supposedly B&C found Xenophobe and Mat Mainia Challenge awhile back but I don't know what happened to them.

While not as interesting as completely unreleased games, 400/800 Xevious, Gremlins, and RS Soccer are out there somewhere.

Well, they've been floating around for a long time so unless they're not the same as the 5200 versions... Anyway, can we assume 5200 titles were usually writtenon the 8-bit line?

Who programmed Liberator? Did the coder write something else? What's up with Micro Movie by Jim Huether (or whatever that game was called)?

It would be neat to see a more developed A8 Atari Age store with items like Castle Crisis, Space Harrier XE, Super Mux Bros, etc.

Yes, I agree. :D

If it paid any better, I'd convert all the classics that never made it, then I'd go back and redo the ones that were done poorly.

We've got all the guys we need here to do it. Maybe then the XEGS would be a hit! :)

I'm wondering what is the market for new Atari 8-bit releases -> if properly carried by such vendors as Atari Age, B&C Computervisions, Best Electronics, Derek Fern in the UK, anybody from Atari Histeria who can do the job in Poland, somebody in Germany and a bunch of French A8 fans I know.

For instance, how many units Space Harrier XE (CIB) -in your opinion- would sell and at what price ? If it's available in a CIB configuration, I'd be ready to shell out $50 minimum for Space Harrier XE. Let's say Sheddy sells a minimum of 25 units, that's $1250 minus Paypal fees (or other vendor's fees unless they give him a break) and minus the manufacturing costs (Pixels Past -> Please be affordable).

Also, because it's a cart, I'd be suprised if there would be any piracy but correct me if I'm wrong (while a simple tool like the Super Pill ! can transfer an 8 / 16 ko cart, Space Harrier XE would be in a completely different league).

So what do you think ?

Maybe it's a question of skills. I remember Bradley Koda (Best) telling me that Commando was so big that it couldn't be transferred to a regular / affordable cartridge. Look at what Sunmark did.

Any opinion regarding my post above ?

Well, ROMs were certainly a lot more expensive in the days of the XEGS being released - now they are are lot more affordable and more easily available in the larger memory sizes.

Can anyone post a breakdown of the physical cart cost? Case/Board/componenets
