greetings

I recently found a boxed cart of Demon Attack (for 2600), but the version doesn't seem to be in the atariage listing.

The cart itself resembles a text activision label, and is red with white writing. The Label states 'Activision Presents' (and goes on to say 'Demon attack', and the number of players, etc..)

The box is red, and looks like the other boxes I found today, and on other occasions (Plastic, like a video tape box, with a paper 'sleeve'). The 'sleeve' of the box states 'Imagic Presents', and has artwork in a box that resembles that of the actual imagic box for demon attack.

From what I can work out, it is a copy of Demon attack, produced by HES (Home Entertainment Supplies, an Australian company), on Activision's behalf (The plastic box greatly resembles the other boxes I have for activision games...)

I was just wondering if anyone knew the story behind this.. was it an imagic cart, produced by HES? or was it an Activision copy produced by HES?

Thanks, Kale

HES published many Activision/Imagic/Epyx titles. Also, Activision published some Imagic titles late in the game (including Demon Attack). So I'm not sure who HES actually licensed this from, but it's one of many titles for which they had this arrangement. It's not listed because we don't have a picture, so if you can scan it in, we'd love to add it to the database.

I'd be most happy to scan this cart & the others that I have that are missing from the rarity guide (ie: the labels for mafia and curtiss, which I offered a little while back).

Unfortunately, my main computer is down at the moment (and the only way I know to fix it is a format-reinstall) If I get it up and running again, the scans will be one of my priorities

I actually realised the whole hes-epyx-imagic-activision thing after I posted, as I found a 2600 catalog for hes in the boxes. (thought they were double-dragon manuals, as the picture from the double dragon label is on the cover).

The funny part is, its an activision cart-shape, but it doesn't have the logo embosed on the back....

Ok, *finally* managed to get my win98 box back up, and managed to get the scanner working (actually, the box was working months ago.. the scanner was not).

If no one else has scanned the label & box, I'd be happy to do it now (though I need specs on the sizes & resolutions you would prefer).

In addition, I found another of these carts a while back. If it's still at the thrift when I go next, I'll pick it up and send it to you.

If you can scan it at 200dpi, that would make us happy. Please don't compress it too much, if you end up saving it as a JPG image to cut down on the file size. You can send it to editor@atariage.com . Thanks!!

I have posted the scans to my home page, located at: http://opax.swin.edu.au/215538/da.htm

If any modifications need to be made (ie: different format, etc...) it can easily be done.

I should also note, that my scanner is definately not one of the best. I'll take it to university on thurs and rescan it if you would prefer.

Thanks for posting those scans, Noble. I've added the HES Demon Attack to our database now that I've seen pictures of it. Those scans are a bit lower resolution than we'd like to use for AtariAge, so if you can scan them at 200 dpi (and 150 at a minimum) and repost them or email them to us at albert@atariage.com , that would be much appreciated.

I didn't know the back of the HES sleeves had the instructions, I'm glad you scanned the back! I recently obtained several boxed HES titles from JahFish, which I need to scan and put online. Of course, looking at one of them now, it does say, "Please remove this slick and turn over for GAME INSTRUCTIONS".

Thanks!

Man, looking at those scans of Demon Attack really reminds me of how cool that photo is on front of the box.

Those sliver spray painted rubber monsters with wings.

I would love to have a big poster of it. Although, my girlfriend would definately not let me hang it anywhere in our place

We don't have any instructions for HES games online yet, so anything you can send us will be appreciated. Thanks!
