Guest
how would you like to see games like E.T get blow of the face of the earth?
Bob Bytchin
I would like to see old cartridges melted down and turned into something useful, like golf balls.
Tempest
Hmm... I always thought shooting them like skeet would be cool. Tempest
Ian Primus
Instead of destroying them, reprogram them. Replace the ROM with an EPROM so you can play those rare protos you will never get ahold of. I am currently building an EPROM burner, and am looking for a goodly supply of unbelivelby common carts (Space Invaders, E.T., Pac-Man, etc.) to reprogram/make RAM carts from. I only have a handfull of dupliace commons, but if anyone has a pile they want to get rid of, let me know! Tempest
Actually as sick as this sounds, I thought about attempting to turn them into art. Maybe make a huge mural out of them or some kind of wall or floor covering. I think something like that would be neat, but I have absolutely no artistic ability. I saw a EPROM burner for the Atari 800 on ebay a few days ago. I almost bid on it, but I really had no use for it. They pop up ever now and then if you watch. Of course some poeple like to build these things themselves. Tempest
+Random Terrain
In case you missed my post about this subject, here's what I said: Save the games for your children's children's children. Even the crappy ones will be worth something in the future. If you aren't that farsighted, instead of destroying the games, make furniture with them. How about an Atari cartridge coffee table or an Atari cartridge entertainment center? You could even make Atari cartridge art like Atari cartridge Christmas trees or other Atari cartridge "sculptures." If you want to destroy something, get a bunch of old DOS CD-ROM games, throw them in the air, and shoot them out of the sky. Just make sure you save the cases and you don't shoot anybody. Disclaimer: Use any of the above ideas at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage you do to yourself or others because you were too stupid to use common sense. Heavy Sixer
Instead of destroying them, send all your unwanted cartridges to me! I plan to use them to build an impregnable fortress from which I will conquer and rule this pathetic world. HA HA HA!!! Or maybe I'll increase the size of my collection. Right now I have 921 carts total, and while I like finding unique titles, quantity is just as good to me. I seem to be running a shelter for homeless Combats; I have 43 now, with another 20 or so on the way this weekend. Send 'em here - I'll take 'em off your hands! -H
Tempest
Remember that guy who was selling about 200+ Combat carts on Ebay a few years ago? I wonder who bought all of those and what they did with them? Tempest
Joel D. Park
Hehe. I have alot of respect for what you are doing (Heavy Sixer). None of these carts will ever be made again, it's nice to know that there is a home where the old carts can retire in peace. I just keep mine available for trade.. I still sell quite a few Combats, as funny as that sounds. www.atari2600.net
