Gaming chair on Ebay

He says been confirmed that it's not homemade. I wonder how he arrived at that conclusion? Who confirmed this? Based on what? Hmmm.

It never ceases to amaze me how much prototype stuff people keep finding. I bet 20 years from now, we'll still be digging up Atari's failures in landfills (They'll be underneath even more E.T. cartridges probably).

I imagine we're supposed to believe the handles are joysticks, although it's not entirely clear the handles can move thus. Frankly the whole thing looks more like a chair with a power tilting feature.

I don't think it could possibly be the ultimate gaming controller-chair. I suspect that honor would go to a chair with armrests. You know, the kind you sit in while commanding, "Ahead warp 6, Mr. Sulu!"

well,

I am not sure but it would appear that the handles themselves do not move...but that then entire chair does on the central axis. Perhaps one would lean in the chair in the direction they wanted to go and then use the handles to fire.

Also, I know that the arcade version of Battle Zone was modified for the US Army for actual training. Isn't is possible that Atari could have made up a chair controller like this for use in such a game? I mean if the handle controllers could be moved back and forth like a real tank then that would add to the realism of the simulation training.

Just a thought. If it is a proto...you have to admit that is looks pretty good for being 20 years old perhaps?

think i'll agree with -^Cro§Bow^- about the way it works. must be that way ....

i guess it's a great pleasure playing zaxxon with the chair.

decathlon will be reserved for jamaican dancehall-queens only ...

there's actually many games that are only fun with the right controller?

i hated many games, until i got their appropriate controller.

track'n'field, spitfire attack, mogul maniac, ... and many more ... i am twice as good in beamrider with the amiga ministick, while i'm worse with it in many other games ... and often just the old regular joystick is just the best!

games and their best controllers ... that would be worth a topic in here, even for the site (sorry albert if i overload you with work )
