SoftSynth 2 ?

Nice tunes.

And now think about combining this PCM stuff with all Pokey sound-modulation sounds...

16 Bit

16 Bit + Filter

Filter...

16 Bit with software modulation

16 bit + Filter with software modulation

Filter with software modulation

.... and the same with digi drums ...

... and all possible with normal Antic DMA

The combination of 3 Channels with software modulation and all POKEY features can be used together with statit G2F pictures.

Way to go guys, that is sounding great, A combination of digi PCM and pokey modulation would be excellent.

I guess this must be using a lot of CPU time and memory though. It would be perfect for a games title screen music (pre-loading if memory is too much) like many titles have done before.

This is the progress towards a new era of sound on the A8 that we need. I realise that RMT is geared towards creating a nice clean Pokey sound by Raster to make songs with the authentic Pokey sound but for developers who want to produce really impressive music for games and/or demos that run on "off the shelf" Ataris (all for fun) like myself then this is all good.

BTW. I do think that RMT is a great utility and it will be used to better and better effect by all the musicians and developers over the time of it's own development.

I'm Looking forward to checking out TMC2.0 soon to see what this will bring to the arena...

hmm... what about the otherway around? the player is written for stereo and when you switch back to mono you just hear the "mono part"?

i mean stereo playing is very simple as you just write to the 2nd pokey like for the 1st one...so that's why i guess the player is done for stereo and that could be the reason when switching "on the fly" the stereo option you hear the difference in the emulation...

sorry... from where are the tracks from? i mean one of them is one of my alltime faves...but isn't it cybernoid or cybernoid 2?

As far as my ears works, when switched from pseudostereo (half is played on left and the second half on the right) to mono, both channels join in one, no sound dissapear. Maybe just in emulator, I didn't see real HW for many years :)

sounding pretty good (little scratchy under emulation, but I'm assuming like all sound stuff it sounds much better on the hardware)

I don't think that it is sounding better on the real HW.

The main problem is that POKEY does not have any DMA abilities. So you have to set the registers "on the fly" by software.

"My dreams" are , that one capable guy produces a combination of those Softsynth routines with pokeys features. For the lower tones PCM is more than good enough. And for the lead voice Pokeys abilities in 16 Bit and filters are fully supported and tuned together with those Softsynth routines, to create a real clean sounding Synth Voice.

I have next version of Play sid routine , its a hybrid - noise generation by Pokey generators, other Sid waves by softsynth routine.

It's real sid emulation - orgninal player from Sid file , remapping Sid registers entry and emulating ADSR.

Indeed... It is an absolutely unbelievable great work that you have done within this Software.

totally amazing.

Saint (Swiety)..

Absolutely stunning piece of code, I am totally blown away that you have been able to do this.

...WOW ;) Cannot wait to see this develop.

 holy shit!!!

well done... how can an atari 1,79 mhz machine emulate a c64... ;)

and i know this song as well...damned i have to make a CD with SID for my car hifi...

so at the moment you can recompile existing PSIDs and play them back?

how many CPU cylces does the emulation need?

how is your SID player in comparison to HARD one used in veronika & joyride demos?

i am sure just few weeks and the "noise" in the emulation is gone... polish coders rock da house...

- tebe with g2f

- jaskier with TMC 2.0

- raster with RMT (ok... not from poland but easter europe)

- fox with TIP used in numen

...

unbelievable...
