emkay
The comparision-commercial-spots are more interesting because you have some similarities when the 1040ST was compared with the APPLE and "PC". When the Tramiels were active at commodore you saw identical comparitiones between C64 and APPLE an "PC". Their product was always the outermost capable machine with the quarter in pricings compared to the other machines... And then the paradoxon in the commercials: In 1982 the best 8 Bit was the "C64". In 1987 the XE Game System was the best 8-bit System. But the main Hardware did exist in 1979 already The Commercials are funny too, especially the Lynx-spots. Did anyone see them on the TV ? In Germany I saw two spots with the slogans "Power without the price" and "did you play ATARI today" in German language of course .-)
ussexplorer
I remeber the kid flying around with the atari XE computer for flight simulator and one of the atari 2600 comercials. I know I watched comercials fro nintendo and stuff when at home wacthing cartoons saturday morning. But I don't remeber much of anything. Funny how the memory works. On the XE game system. I would have had no idea what they was talking about for running existing xe/xl game carts because I didn't even know atari made computers until I was older. So once again it should have played or had an adaptor to play 2600/7800 games. I even passed a complete boxed system up used years ago when I found out it wouldn't take atari 2600/7800 system carts. I had about 30 of them at the time and though most of the atari 8 bits stuff along with carts was showing up. I didn't want to start another cart collections. You know room and money for games I already had. later, ussexplorer
