Might just get together on a couple of ideas and trade some games or whatever...some of you might know how to do some stuff others don't...been about 20 years for me and I'm just getting back into it...so the memory is a little rusty. Last year at AGE I actually picked up a IIgs to replace it (I figured it was smaller and would still play all my games), but I can't get it to work. I need to dig it out and try again... My good ol' Apple IIe is still set up and runs, but the montior jack is kinda screwy. If you bump it the picture goes out. I think it probably needs to be repaired, but I have no idea how. I just picked up a MACH II stick off ebay, but I really want the MACH III like I used to have (mine finally died a few years ago). They look the same except the MACH III doesn't have the colored buttons (they're just gray) and the stick is much fatter (it has a bulbous shape to it) with a fire button on top. Oh well, not like it cost me a fortune or anything (about $20 IIRC). It may still work, I just need to fiddle with it. However the more I think about it, the more I'm not so hot on the IIgs. There aren't many IIgs games and it's not the same system I had growing up. The only reason I really wanted one is so I could hook a HD up to it and put all those damn game EXE's onto it. At one time I did hook up a HD to mine. I think I may have scavanged the drive for something else at some point though. I know the IIgs had some kind of GUI OS for such things. I need a HD so badly. I have so many disks with 15+ games on them its not funny. To just put them all onto one HD would be bliss... I found a way to put the programs I wrote on the Apple on a "sort've" hard drive, I just printed them all out on Dot Matrix, then re-typed them all via emulator and saved them on a virtual Master disk The rest of the commercial games.. they're all downloadable on your various Apple2 ftp's out there. Anyone else try that? You know why I was getting rid of those... because I already had two with hard drives. (One with a SCSI card that I eventually got working, another with a Vulcan internal IDE.) So I needed to get rid of some of mine that didn't have hard drives. And I don't even use the ones with hard drives... they're in a box until I can get rid of a lot of crap I've accumulated from my glory days of thrifting. On many of them I edited a couple lines in the menus to put my handle instead whoever I got it from. I still have my original IIgs, which is now housed in an Operation Wolf cabinet. A Franklin Ace 1000 was my second computer (my first was a VIC-20). It got sold at a garage sale in the early 90s. Dumb move! I loved that thing but I guess I didn't love it enough at the time.
