+-^CrossBow^-
Don't get to excited...I don't have one...(I could only wish). But in the latest DP issue #46 they have a story and screenshots of the 2600 version of Ladybug. So it is a myth no more. Check the forums over at: www.digitpress.com to find the topic on the issue and download yourself a copy.

videotwit
Dang! For some reason I can't get into the Digital Press website right now - I'd love to read what people are talking about. It seems that these unreleased prototypes are popping up more and more lately, and I'm sure that the recent heightened awareness of the 2600 has been an important factor. It'd be interesting to hear the circumstances of how these games have been rediscovered, though. Do you know where Ladybug was found? (I'll guess somewhere in California)
+-^CrossBow^-
The article on it mentions three copies currently knows to exist of which John Hardie (Big Surprise there...) has one. so the current owners according the article are Joe Santulli, John Hardie, and Al Backiel. Joe makes it sound as if he was just rifling through his collections and just happens to find his copy of Lady Bug for the 2600 made by universal distributed by Coleco. I didn't have any problems getting into the site. But then again, I an not going to link straight to the download without permission from the DP guys either. Sorry. It will be avail to grab for the next week and a half or so. So hopefully you should be able to get in there...
Tempest
Yeah and I have one too! I think it was a late April Fool's day joke guys. No one magically finds three copies of an unreleased prototype accidently buried in their collection. Consider the source... Your such a kidder Joe... (now you must die!) On a side note read John Hardie's prototype column. I'm famous! Of course it helps when your friends with the writer... digitalpress
Say Tempest, are you SURE this is an April Fool's gag? If I remember correctly you thought Elevator Action for 2600 was one of my pranks too. I guess when I see you in Vegas we'll see if it's a joke or not! Until then... Game on, brother! Scott Stilphen
I know years ago Jerry Greiner found a production-labeled Ladybug casing, so I wouldn't be so quick to count out the possibility of the game existing...
Scott Stilphen
Ah - right you are! My mistake. At least I remembered it was a Coleco cart
Tempest
I think the one JerryG found was for Pepper II, but even if it was Ladybug I'm sure it was just a shell for the magazine pics. It could be real but I'm doubtful. Until I see some proof I'll remain an unbeliever. Tempest
Eckhard Stolberg
I'm convinced that Lady Bug is real. Just look at the screenshots in Digital Press. The DP guys have such a long experience with reviewing VCS games and they have contacts with so many of the old VCS programmers, that they sure would be able to come up with faked screenshots that the VCS would actually be able to generate, if they really wanted to fool us. The fact that the screenshots of Lady Bug are obviously so much beyond the VCS's capabilities can only mean that the DP guys are forced to hide the real truth. It's all a big conspiracy, I'm telling you. Trust no one, especially not me. Ciao, Eckhard Stolberg
Ze_ro
I don't know... Coleco had a knack for showing pictures and screen shots for stuff that never even hit the drawing board. I remember looking through the ColecoVision catalogs and drooling over Rip Cord, Spectar, and Tunnels 'n' Trolls... only later did I find out that the only one that even had any programming done on it was Tunnels 'n' Trolls. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Coleco was just showing off it's cartridges for the Atari as well. (Of course, I'd love to be proved wrong ) --Zero
+johnnywc
I really want to read what all the hype is about with Lady Bug (2600) but I can't seem to find the info at the DP web site. I just registered for a year subscription for future news but would really like to read this particular article... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
digitalpress
Now when did *I* ever pull someone's leg? Oh, you can get the full issue in glorious color for a very limited time at http://www.digitpress.com/dp46beta.zip (if you believe me that is) Game on, brothers and sisters! Sol
Ohhh, I don't know what to believe now. Does the "All your base are belong to us Rev.2" game really exist? Will Elevator Action really be for sale? I thought Joe there was mutilated by some ALIEN creature. SIR, are you really Joe??? Ah jeez, why does the new issue have a bunch of half-naked women in it??? Does DP stand for Digital Porn now??? Oh gawd.....
Tempest
What I want to know is did they really find Crystal Castles and Elevator Action for the 5200. John listed them in his article. Tempest
Alex
They made it available as a PDF, not sure if you can still get it. Basically, it's an article that reviews the game. There are some screenshots as well. The most spurious part is that Joe says he was just going through his collection and happened to find it, like it was no big deal. And that John Hardie and Al Backiel (I think it was those two) also happened to find it in their collection. Riiiiiight. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but given Joe's history of pulling our legs, I have to question this. If it wasn't for the "I just found it sitting in my collection" I might have believed it. And he also has an instruction manual shown, I don't recall any other proto's having manuals. On the other hand, if it's real, please go through the rest of your collection Joe! Looking forward to their Elevator Action release....
Marco(2)
It wouldn't surprise me, he's the master of prototypes... ... oh wait, that was you Cheers, Marco
san-d-2000
So what does it take to be the master of prototypes, quality or quantity? San.
Tempest
Knowledge. I've reasearched many prototypes and discovered differences in various versions. I do own many prototypes, many of them unreelased, but that's secondary to knowing exactly what makes them tick. Actually the whole Master of Prototypes thing started out as a little joke by Joe Santulli over at the DP. Someone asked me a question about a prototype they were auctioning and apperently quoted me on their auction as being the Master of Prototypes. The name suck, and now it's more of an honorary title. If your interested, check out my prototype page: http:/www.msu.edu/user/reicher6/proto.htm Tempest

NE146
Ok so here's the article/review: http://www.digitpress.com/reviews/ladybug2600.htm Ok so I may be out of the loop but what's the latest and greatest on this? Does it really exist or what
Hakogame 箱亀
I think it was just an april fools hoax. reason 1- it says copyright 1982 universal on the title screen. Ladybug was originally made in 1981. reason 2- at the end of the article it says "just kidding" reason 3- no one's dumped it yet. If it's such a find, they would have dumped the rom by now.
