Joel D. Park
I just recieved a package of games and systems from Canada and I came away with a couple odd finds. First is a Zellers looking atari cart, the end label says "Earth Attack" exactly like the normal Zellers Earth Attack, but the front label is a zoomed in shot of the front of an Atari Defender cart, if that makes sense. Next was an Atari 2600 4 Switch woodgrain.. The funny thing is that the swiches on it are all polished chrome instead of the normal rough switches, and it has a purple label on the bottom that says: "Manufactured for Atari by Kingtek Electronics Co." atari70s
Something sounds fishy about that system. Where did the system come from ( canda also?) the Zeller cart maybe it was someone redoing a label and thats the only thing they saw simular to the old label , never seen the zeller game EARTH ATTACK

videotwit
Joel- I'm pretty sure that Earth Attack cart isn't the Zellers version. I have a boxed Earth Attack with the Zellers mark on the box that I received unopened (so I know it is really the one Zellers sold). The label on that is a bad cartoonish illustration of an astronaut. What I believe you to have is a Taiwanese Zellers ripoff. There's been alot of talk about what carts are and are not Zellers in the recent past, and I think this is a good example of one of those incredibly similar pirates. Joel D. Park
Your probably correct.. My only other guess would be that Zellers originally released the game with the "Blown up Defender" label but it was too close to the Atari defender so they changed the label just to hide their piracy a little longer... What's the story about Zellers.. They weren't licensed to sell any of the games they sold, correct?

It'd be interesting to see if anyone has one of those "defender-label" Earth Challenge carts that is boxed, just to see if it has the Zellers indicia on it. That would a really good way to prove your theory about the label switching. So, anybody... ?
