AMAZING Atari 800 Find

So today I'm doing the thrift shop rounds and I stumble across this TV that looks incredibly familar. I look at it real close and the thing is amazing. It's a vintage TV with all kind of plug ins for the back and lots and lots of dials. Then it hits me, I saw this exact same TV in my Atari 800 manual. It's a Sony Trinitron, and it is EXACTLY the same as the one in the picture. If you have the 800 manual from 1981 it's the one on the first page. The top is only slightly scuffed but other than that it's in really good condition--got it for $5. I'd like to get some paint to fix the silver paint on top--anyone know of where I could get this? Also, this is rare right? Does anyone else have one of these? The thing is like a tank. I mean real solid. Weighs a ton even though its not that big. Probably not worth anything except to me right? Anyone know what the heck all the many dials are for or where I could get a manual and some more information on it? Thanks!

Sorry, I don't have a digital camera but here is a web address with a picture of the 800 and the same TV that I bought today. It's too bad you can't see the back and there's a flap you can open up with all kinds of dials. Here's the link:

The photo I'm talking about is next to "The Atari 800 home setup".

Thanks for the information Bry. It took me a bit but I figured out how to set all the channels, and the TV works great although for some odd reason I can't get it to pick up any channels with the antenna--just with cable. Its been a while since I tried getting reception without cable, so maybe its just really hard to do in this area. Do you know if the TV came with a remote?

Well, I got a find today at the local flea market.

Picked up a 800XL with a 1050, 1010, and Indus GT drive. There was also the power and manual for a XM301 but the modem itself was nowhere to be found. Paid $25 for the lot of it.

I also picked up a 5200 Wico w/ Y-cable and standard 5200 stick for $8.

Not too bad of a day. :)

I loved those older tvs you could tune the station on. If you got lucky you could turn in the porno channel. Sure it was in b/w with okay sound. But you got it.

You could also tune in on analog cellular phone calls on the upper channels (80s or 90s, if I remember correctly).. :)

Oh yeah! I spent many an hour in middle/high school listening in to these calls. I believe it was channels 78 to 83.

You can also tune in the FM stations between channels 6 and 7. :)

i could get the spice channel by using this trick. this worked in my area up untill late 90's when they switched to digital. i also made long coper wire antennas and at times i could watch channels from hundreds of miles away . analog technology was truly magical
