moycon
One thing that really suprised me about atari is that in a 10 year period there wasnt a ton of sequels to hit games like there is today. (Final Fantasy 10 anyone) The sequels that I can think of were pretty good too! Frogger 2...Pitfall 2 come to mind. For me the coolest wouldve been a sequel to Adventure. The graphics would have been improved but kept the same basic design. The area to explore would be much bigger. The sword would only stop the dragons temporarly until the 5th time you stuck them with the sword, then they assume the head back position. The bat would suck worse. etc... Just curious if anyone else had a favorite game they would have liked to see a sequel for?
StanJr
Hey moycron, if you are looking for Adventure II, the closest you can get is Indenture by Craig Pell. There is a link hereabouts, I'm still trying to find to direct you. It has just about everything you asked for (except that cool dragon idea) As for a sequel, I'd take a Jungle Hunt II (more jungle please) or a Indian Jones Temple of Doom (make this one less complicated please) or even just a Spider-man II with different types of action. Odd that there weren't more sequels... Stan II
Mountain King
Sequals, hmmm? These are the ones I'm aware of; Pitfall-Pitfall2 River Raid-River Raid 2 Frogger-Frogger 2 Swordquest EW-FW-WW Summer Games-Winter Games-California Games Donkey Kong-Donkey Kong Jr. Breakout-Super Breakout Mr. Do-Mr. Do's Castle Defender-Defender 2 Star Raiders-Solaris (read the manual) Atlantis-Cosmic Ark (read the Manual) Sorcerer-Fire Fly-Star Fox (Not sure how they are related but in the manual it says they are) Pac-Man-Ms. Pac-Man-Jr. Pac-Man Planet Patrol-Cross Force (read Manual) Centipede-Millipede Combat-Combat 2 Thats all I can think of, but there are probably more. I guess the whole idea of a sequal, in most cases is to feed off the sucess of a particular game. And in few cases just continue a story or idea. ATARIPITBULL
Boy, I sure would love to see a Raiders of the lost Ark part II, or a Superman II, or even a Tutankham part II. I think that these three games and some others should have sequels made of them because they were fun to play.

Ze_ro
Oh, and if you count the 7800, there's also Pole Position 1 and 2. I almost forgot about that one. --Zero
moycon
ET 2... That would've been cool. Hu? Start out avoiding the bad guys (yes you did that in the original but it wasnt very action packed) Have something to do with him flying on the bike having to avoid trees and such. The concept of the original was fine Just the execution was terrible. Hell they paid enough for the licence...Id of thought they'd make a ton of ET and Indiana Jones games. moycon
As far as actual sequels...Didnt they release Miner 2049r and Bounty Bob Strikes back? Or was it just called Miner 2049r II? Anyways it seems to me they could only fit 3 boards on a cart so they released 2 carts.
Scott Stilphen
>>Sorcerer-Fire Fly-Star Fox (Not sure how they are related but in the manual it says they are) >> They're all the same game (equally BAD!) There's also: Blackjack - Casino All the Star Wars games [ 10-06-2001: Message edited by: Scott Stilphen ]

Snider-man
My personal favorite game sequel is Venture II: The Abysmal Abyss. *ahem*
StanJr
What a shameless plug. Shame on you Snider-man. Now where's my copy?
+Zeptari
I heard the atari computer version has two huge quests in pitfall 2. But the 2600 version only included the first quest. How about putting that 2nd quest on cart and calling it pitfall 3??
Ze_ro
I'm told the 5200 version has both quests too (which makes sense since the 5200 is basically a 400 without I/O and with crappy controllers). --Zero

Bounty Bob Strikes Back was released on the Atari 5200, but never found its way to the 2600. It's one of the rarest titles on the 5200 and one of my favorite games on that system (it's also available for Atari 8-bit computers). ..Al
