Lee Furie
w00tie! I have had this game for some time but never had paddles until this past week-end T_T;; w00tie! I practiced for a bit and then invited my brother to play the game with me, where I proceeded to wallop his backside! Now I need another set of paddles so that I can simultaneous beat the backsides of three friends ^.^ Anyone have any tips or strategies? You know, just in case they've *played* the game before? I don't think there's much strategy to this game. It's more reflexes than anything else, although I suppose there could be some strategy revolving around knocking out better players first, or ganging up with other people on one player, etc. However, if you have excellent reflexes and fine control over the paddle, then you just need to survive longer than those poor souls you're attempting to squash. ..Al

Ze_ro
1. Use the bottom right player (I can't remember which paddle this corresponds to). I was playing with friends, and we'd always use the same trick: quickly swing into the corner (Left or right side of the screen usually) and release the ball before your enemy can react. It works great, but if you're the top right player doing this against the bottom right player, you'll have trouble hitting the actual player due to some goofy bouncing. However, the bottom right player will hit the top right player EASILY once the edge of the castle is broken down. My friend got kinda mad after I did this a few times... especially since he couldn't do it back to me I'm not sure if this quirk affects the left side players, as I don't usually use them (I'd assume it still works, but I'm not sure who gets the advantage) 2. Take out the person on your diagonal as soon as possible... Maybe it's just me, but it's really hard to hit that diagonal properly. 3. Leave the computer players until last. They're generally not anywhere near as good as human opponents in my opinion. Of course, if you trust your friends enough to team up with them (These teams don't usually last long), you may decide to do things differently. 4. Other people have mentioned that computer players never really "die"... well, neither do you! Your paddle remains on the screen in the same manner and you can still move it and bounce the fireball (I think). I'm pretty sure that you can't catch though. Of course, at this point you've already lost the game, so it's not much of a strategy --Zero PS - Wow, you didn't have paddles until now? I thought it was weird that I didn't have a keyboard controller or the driving paddle
Nostalgic
"wOOtie"??? All the computer players, from what I recall, just follow the ball once you catch it. Essentially, the two players not diagonal from you will try to line up with your shield. Just move toward the center while holding the ball, then quickly dash to the edge of the screen and release it. This works particularly well on the bottom-right player, as it is painfully slow. The fact that the edge bricks are double-size makes it even easier. Use the "ghost" shields to defeat the computer opponent on the diagonal. I can't say much for what to do if you're playing a game with no catch and no lightning balls, as I never play those variations.
Charlie_
Actually, Lee, if you didn't know. During a game that involves any computer players, you can "use" them after they die. If you notice after a player has died when you hit a left over brick from their castle, when the screen flashes you will see the player is still there as a "ghost".If you hold position for a second a computer ghost will go directly under (or accross) from you. Of course you wont see them, but if you shoot the ball at them you will notice it will deflect in another direction, being VERY helpful to get other players from angles not possible normally. If your playing with human players they also can move the "ghost" of their player after they die, but they cant see where they are unless a brick of their castle is hit. Basically, computer players keep playing, in a way, after they die. You just can't see em tracking the ball. :-) This brings up a point i argued with my brother about 3 player games being unfair. I noticed that the one CPU player is in position to deflect and help 2 of the players after it dies. The other player gets no cpu "ghost" help at all. Making it impossible to beat even a descent player. Charlie
Nukey Shay
IMO catch makes the game too easy (the console-controlled players often destroy themselves after catching the ball). Off the subject a bit, anyone play the arcade game Rampart? It's kind of a Tetris/Missile Command hybrid.
Lee Furie
Thank you peoples! ^_^ I've printed this entire thread (even the useless bits right after my first post) and will be using it to practice tonite and tomorrow for the butt-kicking I'm going to apply to my friends when we get-together on Saturday! ~_^ *rubs hands in sinister fashion* Thank you again! ^.^

Yeah, Rampart is a fun game when both players are good, sweating filling in the broken parts as the timer runs down and you get the "+" piece ,,,arrrrghh!! And as goofy as it is, its funny to taunt your opponent by having them "walk the plank", dragging it out.
