Blackjax
Well, I've been going berzerk making pages for System Failure today, however, I've run into a snag with Grover's Music Maker... While some of the songs are obvious, there are still a bunch I can't make out. So I turn over here to look in the archives of the DP people and find Al Backiel's FAQ on Digital Press's site... which while identifying more than I had, was still incomplete... So lets throw this out to the public. does ANYONE know these remaining songs? If you're ROM-less on this one, the nearly-done page for Grover's MM is at rbox.victoly.com/~blackjax/2600/Grover/ A= Old McDonald Had A Farm B= Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star C= Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush D= Over The River And Through The Woods E= Hush Little Baby F= The Itsy Bitsy Spider G= My Hat Has Three Corners H= Skip To My Lou I= Three Blind Mice J= Hickory Dickory Dock K= Do You Know The Muffin Man? L= A-Tisket, A-Tasket M= Go Tell Aunt Rhodie N= Sur le pont d'Avignon O= I’m A Little Teapot P= ? Q= This Old Man R= ? S= ? T= ? (This message is gonna be mirrored on Digital Press's messageboard as well) (edit - song list updated with new info from below) [ 10-22-2001: Message edited by: Blackjax ]
Eckhard Stolberg
N is "Sur le pont d'Avignon". I don't know if there is an English text to this French song, but it would translate to something like "over the bridge of Avignon". Ciao, Eckhard Stolberg
Tempest
There's an interesting thought. What about tune with different titles in different countries? I'm fairly sure "Sur le pont d'Avignon" wouldn't be sung that way in the US. Tempest [ 10-14-2001: Message edited by: Tempest ]
Ze_ro
Okay, how do you actually listen to the songs? I hit Select and Reset, and any number of keys, but Grover just stands there like an idiot. I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of the songs ended up being some french-canadian song like "Allouetta". --Zero
StanJr
If it will work on Stella or PCAE, I'll play. And for the record, I stand and sing "Sur le pont d'Avignon" at LEAST once a day.
Mindfield
Sur la pont d'Avignon is also one of those songs sung in Canadian schools during French classes, along with the usual traditionals like Alouetta and ... well, the rest of those tunes I tried very hard to forget. :-) (French is taught in Canada the same way Spanish is taught in the US)
StanJr
Spanish is taught in the US??????? I didn't even think English was taught here anymore, maybe its been replaced by Spanish? No halba espanol Stan
Blackjax
*bump* only a few to go! Anyone have any more ideas?
Blackjax
Ya know, I was thinking about something Tempest said over on the Digital Press thread about this game. The basic gist of it that is because the game is possibly incomplete, some of these songs could be incomplete as well. Personally, I'm starting to agree with him - it's hard to picture a children's music maker that doesn't have The Farmer and the Dell in it! Oh well, maybe I'll take Albert up on his offer from the earlier thread and make some recordings...
StanJr
Blackjax, dude, I've been trying to figure out what is going on in that game, but it is all buzzes and beeps from here. Its amazing you were able to decipher the ones you did. This game should be called "Here's a Weird Looking Blue Thing That Dances to a Barrage of Incohent Sounds." Sheesh. Blackjax
actually most of it was in Al Backiel's FAQ on Digitpress, and the rest was figured out by other people here
Albert
I think this information needs to be turned into a FAQ for this game that we can then link to from the entry for Grover's Music Maker. Either that, or it should be added to the 2600 FAQ, although that seems a bit overbearing for what's supposed to be a more general-purpose FAQ. ..Al
