King Atari
Here's yet another one of my "Best of..." posts. In this one, what's your favorite game based on a movie or TV show? The best I can think of right now are "Superman" and "M*A*S*H", which were actually both movies and TV shows. Post your thoughts here. Rhindle The Red
Star Wars: The Arcade Game. M*A*S*H was a book first and Superman was a comic book...
Scooterb23
Through emulators, I have found a certain amount of joy playing the Dukes of Hazzard game, and the A-Team game. And don't forget the series of Star Wars games, those are almost all good.

The Night Phantom
I'd have to say Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, which very neatly takes a very thrilling signature sequence from one of my favorite films and turns it into an exciting, challenging game without changing the story. I'm not as big a fan of the film Halloween, but the game Halloween is another one of my VCS favorites. One annoying departure from the film is that the Shape (the maniac killer, a.k.a. Michael Myers) always goes after the child first, whereas in the movie he always reserves his violence for adults and teenagers. Of course, this change is good for moral shock value. Some comments on the “true origins” of games mentioned by others: I agree with Rhindle The Red: the Superman game seems meant to draw directly on the comic books, not on any of the films or TV series based thereon. On the other hand, while M*A*S*H was a book and movie before becoming a TV show, I think it's the TV show that the game was intended to evoke. If we really want to be picky, Star Wars: The Arcade Game was based on, well, an arcade game. (Am I the only one offended that this home game was subtitled The Arcade Game? It's blatant fraud!)
moycon
Godda be Porky's Oh how my loins burned as a teenager to see that little pink blob shaking back and forth under her little pink shower head spurting pink water. Ok maybe not, But I did play the hell outta the game when I got it from a KMART as a teenager for $5 no less.
Snider-man
Gotta toot my own horn for a sec. I hacked Megamania a few years back and created an entertaining little game called "Mystery Science Theater 2600." http://webpages.charter.net/hozervideo/ata...ri/mst2600.html Believe it or not, a copy of this game sold on eBay for $200+ about two years ago. Yeesh. (While we're on the subject, I also did a hack for The Blair Witch project...) As far as commercially available 2600 games, I always thought Ghostbusters was a faithful port for the C64 game and a good movie adaptation. I like MASH (previously mentioned), Fantastic Voyage is cool, and Flash Gordon doesn't suck as much as you think it might...
Elvis8Atari
Krull is a pretty bad game. I can never figure out what to do with the spiderweb. He-man sucks. Smurfs is decent. ET isn't too good. Texas chainsaw massacre looks entertaing. Flash gordon is an ok game but really has nothing to do with the movie. Buck Rogers is cool. It makes me feel like I'm on acid or something. Superman is confusing even with the map. I think Gremlins may be the best game based on a movie for 2600. Sincerely, Mike Matei
King Atari
Tim, you 'da man! Look at my personal qoute! It's obvious I love MST3K! You gotta love Trumpy (who can do stupid things, of course). I'm just getting into homebrew stuff/hacks, but take a guess at what game I'll be ordering from Hozer first! woodyi76
That's funny I was about to start this Post. My favorite game based on a movie was the Goonies on NES. This is a classic I played this and felt like I was part of the movie. That was the only one I really enjoyed on any system even the Atari 2600. Inky
First off, I'm a MST fanatic... My favorite episode is Danger! Death Ray -- followed by Monster A-Go-Go. My favorite quote is by joel.. "Then there are times when we all band together to defeat hell, like the time we as a nation got together and said NO to Yahoo Serious..." Secondly, How can you not like Krull? That game kicks butt! The opening sequence where you have to kill the enemie guards can get pretty frantic. My brother and I would have a contest to see how long we could last on that screen before the enemies grabbed the princess.. I think we made it 5 minutes... Back to the MST thing.. I think that Haloween could be hacked to become Monster A-Go-Go. The only problem, as every MST fanatic knows, there "was no monster"
King Atari
Great to see some fellow MSTies here. My favorites would have to be a tie between "Pod People" and "Manos: Hands of Fate" (but what MSTie doesn't like Manos?). I think it would to be cool to make a 2600 game taking place inside the theater. Maybe Joel could be trying to get Servo out as Torgo attacks? Just an idea that's been rolling around my head for awhile. P.S.-And "Mighty Jack". There was a guy named Atari!!
King Atari
Inky, By the way, that quote is from "Eegah!", right?
Inky
Eegah.. Another of my favorites.. Look at the pic of Leonardo Dicapprio on the box for the movie 'The Beach' then look at the actor Arch Hall Jr. from Eegah. I swear its the same person. King Atari
Hmmm, maybe Hall is Dicapprio's role model?
ubersaurus
I really liked Death Star Battle. It was a pretty good buy for a quarter some years back. And I also like to say, though Manos ruled, the best MST episode was Invasion of the Neptune Men. How come MST2600 isn't on the hack page? ;p
Joel D. Park
ET! Seriously, it ranks very high on my list. I'm also a big fan of Star Wars: ESB and the Arcade Game. They might rank right above ET. so There you go.
King Atari
Yeah, MST2600 would be great on the hack page (that way I can play it whenever I want). As for "Invasion of the Neptune Men", "I like it VERY much!" (that's actually from "Prince of Space" but whatever).
