atarigamer
How rare is the All Black (Darth Vader) Atari 2600? BTW, this is my 100th Post! .
moycon
Not as rare as the All White (Princess Leia) Atari 2600! BTW this is my 233th post
Junie
I have heard it is rare, but how rare I am not sure. I do know I managed to buy one for $10 from a yard sale with games, joysticks, paddles, a Atari 14 game holder, etc. It is the second Atari 2600 system I ever bought, and I started collecting in June this year. Perhaps I got lucky
liveinabin
medium. None of them are particularly rare. apart from the snot encrusted 'Yoda' 2600
Joel D. Park
The black darth vader model seems to be the system I pickup most often, followed closely by 4 switch woodgrain systems.
Ze_ro
I haven't actually seen one of these in the wild yet... perhaps it's even less common in Canada? I have seen dozens of 2600 Jr's though... they seem to be everywhere. --Zero
Genki
In MI, 4 switch, both woodgrain and Darth Vader model, are as common as heck. Following that are the 6 switchers. I have seen only 3 jr's in the last few years.
Lemmi
LOL wi1ykat we must be looking in different places cause i see more 2600jr's then any kind of 4 switchers All i want is my darth varder model back and i can never find them
Joel D. Park
I actually don't pick up many Atari's in my local area, most of mine are bought from Lots on ebay or private sellers. The last system I got in my area was a 4 switch Woodgrain. By the way, I do buy quite a few systems from Canada. That might have something to do with it. I buy with hopes of getting rare Spectravideo games or Zellers games.
StanJr
As I have said before, EVERYTHING is rare here. The only system I have ever found here (the only one I have) is a so-called "Darth Vader." System Drought Stan
Lemmi
heh do you live in the sticks or something? and my family comes from Kentucky , some live where you do and others live in Ashton, and Huntington woods maybe you should just go door to door and ask everyone Do you have any Atari games?
StanJr
No, I live in the city (its almost a real city) of Louisville, but there just doesn't seem to be any flow of goods. I do suspect there is at least one other VCS collector around here, because stuff keeps coming up missing from time to time at thrifts and such. As for the door-to-door thing, then people would really think I'm nuts. I did put an add in the paper...nada
Lemmi
Yeah that Sumguy thrift store/Flea market stealer has got me before but that sumguy turned out to have a name and ive met him i was at the flea market Really Early (to beat that sumguy to the goodies) and the guy who had alot of different video games all the time(he set up every week) kept telling me that sume other collector kept getting to his good stuff 2 hours before i showed up , but this time i got there 5 min before he did. he walked up and asked are you the guy i keep beating to the good stuff (cause i had a hard to find Sega cd game in my hand that hes been looking for ), i said yup then we talked for about an hour about classic games and systems
StanJr
So did you scoop the games from him or what? Please tell us that you beat the dreaded SUMGUY at his own nefarious game!

Albert
The Darth Vader 2600 is certainly one of the rarer 2600 consoles produced by Atari. I have several in my possession, although an exact count is impossible right now since they're buried deep in a box in my garage. I have no idea exactly how I came by the ones I have, but the acquisition method was probably via eBay when I was in the phase of buying complete systems with tons of games to build up my 2600 collection some time ago. ..Al
Lemmi
Albert if you have any Darth Vader systems that you want to sell please let me know cause that system was my very first one i had as a kid ( and i miss it ) i threw it out around 86 or so and i'm still kicking myself in the butt for doing so, cause i could have probably fixed it
Albert
After having just finished moving, I've made it a goal to get rid of as much stuff as possible within the next year. That includes a great deal of excess classic gaming hardware and software that I've been lugging about the past few years. So when I embark on this task (which won't be until I finish unpacking!) I'll dig out the 2600 consoles and get back to you. You may want to remind me in a month or so in case I forget. ..Al
Lemmi
SWEET thank you, you bet i will remind ya I've been looking for this system for about 2 years now( in the wild ), plus i like all black systems , when i decide to buy a dreamcast it will be the sports version cause its black
+-^CrossBow^-
Funny to see this mentioned. The Vader model is the least common one that I find in my area. Instead, I usually see the 6 switch semi heavy and 4 switch woody's most common here. I have actually only seen one Vader model and the guy doesn't feel like climbing over his piles and piles of dead and half taken apart TV sets to get it. And I don't feel like breaking a leg or getting zapped by a Cathode while trying to get to it either. Especially when the guys wants like 20 bucks for his 2600s. Too much for a bare console that may not even work.
