Plastic Pop

Okay, this is slightly off topic, but after listening to some RMT music, I found the website of the original author of Plastic Pop (originally in SID format) - Tomas Danko.

Here is my question:

Can anyone translate the following MP3's lyrics from German into English?

http://www.danko.se/derdanko/

From what little German I can understand, I think Plastic Pop is a parody... but I cannot understand everything... and I KNOW there are some German speaking people frequenting this BBS... :)

Thanks, Danke und Grüße,

~C~

Danko is an awsome musician - in fact the first full 8-bit demo i can remember seeing (crackscreens aside) is 'my, oh my' by light which was entirely his music.

he was taking the piss when he did that version but it's a fantastic version.

mind you... If I didn't like it i'd have never covered it:)

In fact whilst i'm here and somewhat drunk I highly recommend you listen to the originals of any covers I've done - especially the ole-marus pettersen/prosonix one (called prosonix01 i think).

random though occurs - what would Martin Galway have done with the A8? I reckon the hard, distorted bass sound works has a lot of kick to it which compliments his drum-free sound with a bassline that drives things along...

Questions we'll never have answered... ho-hum...

Hi, cos!

Yeah, it was your RMT cover of Plastic Pop that got me started tracking down the composer... only to find I had a bunch of MODs from him from back in the day...

I'll work on the drunk thing tomorrow at work... :)

Okay, after several beers, work is going a bit easier-ly, and the plastic pop MP3 is beginning to make some sense.

Wir gehen zum disco jede Nacht.

"We go to the Disco every night."

Ich habe mein lederhosen hier.

"I have my lederhosen here."

Then something about the DJ and a Disco battle... can someone translate the rest into English...? or does this degrade into something that shouldn't be translated here...

I wonder if these were the words Danko thought of when he wrote the orignial SID... :ponder:

Thanks,

~C~

Okay, so I can lay this tangent to rest.

Here is the German to English translation (I think) of Plastic Pop so all non-German speaking interested people (sack-cos, maybe...) can listen and laugh with me. :D Well, I thought it was funny anyway... I am not sure what a Poodle Battle is (I am not sure I want to know), but I have just translated what I hear.

wir gehen zur disco jeder Nacht.

We go to the disco each night.

Ich habe mein lederhosen hier.

I have my leather pants here.

Der DJ macht das discoschlacht.

The DJ makes that disco battle.

Mein lederhosen sind sehr schwer!

My leather pants are very heavy!

Jetzt nehmt die hände in die höhe.

Now put your hands in the air.

Bist du mein pudel heute nacht?

Are you my poodle tonight?

Im voll gallop, ja das ist schön!

In full gallop, yes that is beautiful!

Jawohl, mein baby, pudelschlacht!

yes, my baby, poodle battle!

Download RMT, listen to plastic_pop.rmt, and sing along!!! ;)

Back to our regularly scheduled program...

While listening to the tune through my Nokia 6600, I am pretty shure, Danko is no german ;)

"Pudelschlacht" should be "Pudel Kampf" and even then, no german guy will know by this, what it is anyway :)

I think, the "Poodlebattle" is an english definition, and he used some "direct" german words for it ... (similar as EMKAY is doing with the english language ;) )

BTW... NOKIA 6600 .... Does anybody know if there is an A8 emulator available for Symbian 7?
