Dr. Van Thorp
I have found message boards like this one dedicated to the Atari 8-bit computers. I've found Commodore message boards. I've found message boards for computers never sold in the United States. Oddly, there is a shortage of message boards for the Apple II. I remember that back in the day, the Apple II people would often look down their noses at everyone else, but now they are no where to be found. wrenchien
apple ii's were emulated by tandy in its last years, and eventually all became xp compatibles in the schools with the software waiting maybe forever for use once more on disks long made incompatible by drives far smaller these days.. than even the disk notches, perhaps one day, of the disks once used when hundreds of kilobytes of storage.. ....was actually quite the impressive thing. Rockin' Kat
I find that most Apple II fans use usenet to disscuss things online. They don't bother much with webbased forums. I'd check out comp.sys.apple2 if I were you.

Though based on personal experience, I can't understand why you'd want to use an old Packard Bell PC for it.... Packard Bell made horrible computers with crap parts that had a terrible failure rate... it'd be a wasted effort to use that computer for the project... you should use something better. Atari Charles
A friend of mine(who lives in a different city than I do) finally got sick of his Apple IIGS Collecting dust(it works perfectly), so he threw the computer, monitor, manuals, and all the games in the garbage(the city dump). I would have taken it off his hands had I known he wanted to get rid of it. I found out about this months after. To me, even though the various Apple Computers from the 80's are toally obsolete, they are still of historical significance. Oh well. NE146
I still love the Apple II and I STILL play it's games and sometimes even write an assembly or applesoft basic program on it for old times sake! .. not on any original hardware though. Unfortunately I no longer have those. Which is kind of strange since I still have all my console stuff Applewin though is satisfying enough for me. I often like to set the monitor to monochrome green to really get that down home flavor.

It's already completely guts-free . . . I snagged it from the school back in '94 after they had already partsed it out. I've had this one longer than I've had that aforementioned case (since '92) and it has never failed me once . . . Don't need it anymore, really, so I think I'll make something cunning out of it . . . Tried to upgrade a Packard Hell for a friend once... After trying everything to get the seccond hard drive to work, eventually narrowed things down to only one possible scenario: Packard Hell's IDE controller just couldn't drive 2 devices on one IDE channel, thereby limiting the system to 1 HDD + 1 CD-ROM. Stingray
If there is enough interest i will throw a site together. You can count me in as interested. I'm pretty sure I've got at least one of every model of Apple ][, I love those old computers. I've got a GS with a SCSI card and a whopping 230 MB mard drive. It's amazing how much Apple ][ software you can put on a 230 MB drive. -S

I have Asimov's entire game archive as well as every IIgs game and application that is downloadable from Wit2GS? on the ORB... too much to fit in 350MB drive. Blackbird
I own an Apple ][e, but I haven't done anything with it yet due to lack of software. I should probably look into getting some, since it's just a waste to leave it there, unused... I snagged it off my school this past summer after they were clearing out all their old computers. And by old, I mean PC's from about '94, '95. It was I think three years ago when they threw away all the old Apple ][ stuff, and I wasn't interested back then. But lo and behold, there was a ][e that managed to hide itself, with a working monitor and disk drive, so I took it...

zenassem
I am a Network Systems Technician For a public school district. We have literally 30 working Apple II, Apple IIc, AppleIIe, Apple IIgs's that the district will have to pay to get rid of. I'd guess that there is another 30-40 that aren't complete (broken, missing keys, but still have the boards and guts in em). Also have numerous floppy drives cables, printers (not sure if they work) etc... I had setup one of the IIgs's and it worked fine. I'd try to save them if I had room to store them. They are heavy, but if someone is really interested in one, I could catalog what's there, and you can have it for the price of shipping. I even have some software, books, manuals for them. I have a box of 5 1/4's that I use for the Atari, they mainly have Cavity Busters, Five Star Forecast, Gm Sunraycer on them. I wish I knew what happened to the Commodore 64 lab???? (I attended this shool district) ~zen
