I just posted the first batch of Gunfight Label Submissions, so go have a look now! The quality of these labels is great, I wasn't expecting such a large response! Manuel's going to have a hard time choosing a winner.

I just added Junie's three entries, which you can look at here:

- Submission #1
- Submission #2
- Submission #3

That brings the total number of submissions thus far to 15, and I should be adding another one very soon. Keep 'em coming, they look great!

Adding the label in the Atari cases makes them look a lot more authentic. I think this whole Contest is neat/cool.

Can't think of any other words that convey the overall experince. Just seeing my images in "Atari Cases" here on AtariAge is quite a honor.

Good Luck to all the other label Artists

And had I waited a little longer, I could have also listed Michael Matei's entry as well. That brings the total number of labels to 20! Wow! Manuel Polik has discovered an excellent method to come up with great label designs, one I may have to take advantage of if I ever create my own 2600 game.

Yes, he seems to have sparked quite a bit of creativity here. This seems to be a great way to obtain a cool label for your hombrew game and involve the community that will buy it All these labels are very good!

I just put my Gunfight submission on Atariage. It would be great for my portfolio if I designed the cover to a game before I got out of college. What a neat idea. Having fans do the labels. Atari rules.

They are all awesome. My favorites so far are:

A. Hershey
Uwe Heinrich - #1
Matthew B. Vigor

Can we get a poll going where Atari Age members can vote??? That would be sweet.

Well, I'm out. They were coming along okay, but I just won't be able to finish them. If the deadline was longer, I might have had a shot. Anyways, good luck to everyone!

Matthew B. Vigor's is the one I think should be selected, in my humble opinion. No insult to the other entries (which are all good and retro in their own ways), but Matthew's is the slickest looking one of all. It conveys a simple and powerful impression of the game, helping to sell it as well.

Not to turn this thread into a critque, but I think you have to consider what will look good in a 2.75 X 3.5 size. Just because a label looks cool on a 19 inch monitor doesn't mean it will when shrunken down. Too much detail can be bad when working small.

For that reason, I cast my vote for
Dave G.
and
Jay Prince

I think both labels have very crisp images & design that stand out from the pack.

I wish I had half the talent all these artists that submitted labels do.

as long as we're stating our favorites, i'd like to say my favorite is Matthew B. Vigor's. and, just so you know, i'm about to send in another one. i tried to make it an almost copy of metroid's label, but i made it in about half an hour and in ms paint...

Artwork. In the words of Manuel Polik, "I want to have something more dark & sinister on the cover. Clint Eastwood instead of John Wayne."

Hehe ya cant get much darker and sinister then Wil Lutons label

http://www.atariage...._WillLuton.html

All the Labels are great and i wouldnt want to be Manuel Polik right now, having to pick a label out of all the enteries

Good Job Everyone
