Best Pac-Man variant for 2600

I'm just wondering what the majority of 2600 fans think is the best variant of Pacman for the 2600 VCS. I myself love Pac-Man Jr, followed by Ms. Pac-Man as a close second.

The reason I like Pac-Man Jr is due to the speed. THe little Jr. Pac-Man is so fast and agile, it makes the game a joy to play, despite the large mazes!

Ms. Pac-Man is also a great game and one that will keep me hooked for hours, but the speed of the game is slower and your on-screen character just doesn't feel very "nimble."

As for the original Pac-Man, I loved it as a kid in 1983, but I have no idea what possessed me to play through the same maze over and over for hours at a time!

As the saying goes,'the third times the charm'.Once you play Jr. Pac-Man you will not go back to Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man or any other knockoff variant game. The strange thing with Jr.Pac-Man is the fact that the first screen seems to be the hardest,I loose a lot of lives there.I'm repeating myself here, but it seems that the game plays better on 'attract mode' than I do....

Jr Pac-Man is by far one of my favorite Atari 2600 games. It was the first game I bought with my own money way back in 88. I wanted to buy Ms. Pac-Man, but the store didn't have it. I saw Jr. Pac-Man and bought it for $14.

I also find the first maze one of the hardest. The hardest one for me is 5th maze with the train engine. If I manage to keep all my lives through the first four mazes, I usually end up losing them all here.

The other great part of Jr. Pac-Man is that the game controls are so responsive even though he moves so fast. I also love the exploding Power-pellets- nice touch.

Once again, I'll have to disagree with everyone... I never liked Jr. Pac-man, and the scrolling screen was annoying in my opinion... it just hid things from me, and I didn't know where anything was until I ran straight into it.

However, I do enjoy Ms Pac-Man, and Alien... although Lock 'n' Chase is my overall favorite.

Jr. Pac-Man is certainly the best official Pac-Man game for the VCS in terms of fidelity to the arcade, but my skills are too meager to keep up with it for long. So, my favorite remains Ms. Pac-Man.

If, like Ze_ro, we count unofficial Pac-Man-style games, I think I would still award the prize to Ms., but I agree that Lock 'n' Chase (also an arcade conversion) is a lot of fun. However, we would be remiss in overlooking Rob Kudla's Pac-Man redux (actually based on the Ms. Pac-Man ROM), perhaps the best of the VCS hacks to date, certainly more faithful to the arcade than even Jr. (Too bad Ebivision's Pac-Man remains unavailable!)

What are you talking about? They're complete different games! I mean, one has ghosts, and the other has aliens... do I have to draw you a diagram?

Easy? I thought it was pretty hard since you had such little lee-way with the collision detection. The arcade version let you overlap with the ghost quite a bit before registering a hit.
