+FujiSkunk
So will the hanging fruit be turned into hanging cans of spinach? Will the Popeye theme play at the end of each level?
Out_of_Gas
Probably will change cans to spincah cans I cant code the music, so it probably will be stuck. Will change baby roo to Swee'pea.
Atari Dogs
Just to be a bit closer to the Popeye characters, how about instead of monkeyes kidnapping Swee'pea, have the Sea Witch's vulchers or Alice the Goon and her Goons?
Out_of_Gas
The monkey sprutes arent too tall. I can try to make vultures instead of monkeys. Mini-goons wouldnt look right lol.
Out_of_Gas
Test bin. Need to change title screen, and a few other things. Changed baby roo to "Swee'pea". pop_roo.zip
Out_of_Gas
If anyone wants to take a hack at the title screen, it would be appreciated. The title of the game will be something like Popeye 2, or something like that. Im up for any title suggestions. Whoever can make the title screen will get credit if I can make a cart or 2. I second this entirely. That and the idea about the fruit being spinach. The Popeye sprite is coming along EXTREMELY well. But what is on the back of his head? Out_of_Gas
I need to redo popeye, made him 1 sprite too short
Out_of_Gas
I need to redo his height, and as far as vultures, well there is not much sprite to work with height wise. I can make the fruit spinach cans, but I cant hack colors
Out_of_Gas
Changed ducking sprites, and climbing sprites. Fixed walking sprites. Made "vultures", and added the word "BAM", when you punch a vulture. Still got a looooooooooong way to go. p_roo8.1.zip
Atari Dogs
This ever finished? I hope you don't mind. I tried my hand at it. I changed the title screen, made Popeye a little less buff looking when he climbs the ladder, and made the spinach cans green. It needs a sound hack though. Atari Dogs
A few more adjustments here. This is about as far as I can go. I could not do is change the color of Swee' Pea on the title screen. I wanted it to be blue like the clothes he wears. I wanted the music to change to the Popeye theme. It is in the Parker Bros. Popeye game so it can be done. I also want the walls to change color on the different screens as they do in the original Popeye. I just thought of that as I was typing. Maybe someone else can continue this hack. Popeye2.1.bin Edited March 25, 2009 by Atari Dogs

He does not fall when he comes to the edge of a step. Can anyone fix this? Edited March 25, 2009 by Atari Dogs
+DamonicFury
Hi, Atari Dogs Any chance you could just change the Kangaroo background to black, leaving the rest of that game intact, and post that ROM? I've always hated that blue background in Kangaroo. Best of luck with the Popeye hack... looks good so far.

What needs to be done is changing the color of the walls on when you go to the next level. Changing the color of SweaPea at the title screen, and changing the music to Popeye music. I cannot do the music. Popeye2test.bin Edited April 3, 2009 by Atari Dogs

I changed the walls to match the first screen of the Parker Bros. Popeye. What do you think so far? Can anyone help with the rest of the changes? accousticguitar
You might want to start a new thread and ask for help in the title so that more people see it. You might also want to post the latest assembly so others could work on it. Edited April 3, 2009 by accousticguitar

Oh, and maybe have the extra men shaped like Popeye head rather than just blocks. Popeye22.bin Edited April 4, 2009 by Atari Dogs
