Albert
Welcome to the new AtariAge Forums! The new forums represent a big improvement over the old forum, both in terms of speed and new functionality. We have imported the entire database from the old forums, including all members, posts, private messages, and attachments. You may see some glitches, but for the most part this conversion is much more thorough than our migration from Ultimate Bulletin Board (UBB) to phpBB back in the summer of 2002. If you do see any problems, please send me a private message and I'll take a look at them right away. This also goes for the rest of AtariAge--the entire site was moved to a new server, and it's likely that any problems from this move will be more likely outside the forum. The new forum software is fairly similar to the old forum in terms of functionality, but there are changes so you should take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with them. Here's a short list of some of the new features you'll find: - The Edit button has returned, and editing messages is now very fast! - You may now choose your Time Zone in your profile (including support for Daylight Savings Time), and all posts will be shown relative to your local time. - A new Gallery feature allows you to upload and share photos in a wide variety of categories. Members can also create their own galleries. - A better integrated Calendar which also tracks member birthdays. - Much improved private messaging, including the ability to archive your messages to an Excel or HTML file. - Fast Reply option for quickly responding to a post without having to open up a new page. - Ability to read threads in Outline (Hierarchal), Standard, or Linear+ modes. - Image attachments are now displayed as a thumb--no more super-wide pages! - You can now subscribe to Forums in addition to individual Threads. You can optionally receive these messages in Daily or Weekly digests via Email. - Ability to more easily search for Members. - A "Lo-Fi" text mode for quick browsing on low-bandwidth devices. - Ability to quote from several messages at the same time, even across threads! - Not sure where a quote came from? Click the "track-back" arrow to jump to the original post! A big thanks goes out to BinaryGoddess for creating the new AtariAge Forum skin. We plan on adding several new skins to the forum down the road, giving you the ability to view the AtariAge Forums in a wide variety of styles! In addition to switching to new software, we've also reorganized how the forums are laid out, and added a few new forums (mainly as sub-forums of existing forums, to help organize things a bit better). This layout certainly isn't set in stone, and I'm always open to suggestions. I've also fleshed out the descriptions of the individual forums a bit. Don't forget to introduce yourself in the new Introductions Forum! You can also add a photo to your profile, as well as enter your birthdate. The forum will announce your birthday at the bottom of the main index page, and it will also be viewable in the Calendar. While you're editing your profile, you can also add your eBay id so other AtariAge members can easily find your auctions! If you have any questions or comments about the new forums, please ask them here. Enjoy! ..Al
moycon
A couple things I have noticed. 1.) The bold key doesn't work in the Pet Gallery. Look at the photo I posted named "Bath Day" I'm guessing it's because the text is already in bold? 2.) None of the following links work off the pet gallery (Top right) 2600 | 5200 | 7800 | Lynx | Jaguar | Forums | Store Still Awesome so far. I suspect it will take some time to work out all the kinks! Having fun playing with stuff so far. Great job.

Look at the photo I posted named "Bath Day" I'm guessing it's because the text is already in bold? Could be, we can change it so the text is not bold by default (I think that is how the Gallery was originally setup). 2.) None of the following links work off the pet gallery (Top right) 2600 | 5200 | 7800 | Lynx | Jaguar | Forums | Store This won't be properly "fixed" until the domain name properly resolves, which it already should be for some people (not yet for me, though, which is odd as usually it's fairly quick). I have started receiving spam at the new server, so I know it's propagating. Still Awesome so far. I suspect it will take some time to work out all the kinks! Having fun playing with stuff so far. Great job. 835076 Hopefully there won't be too many kinks, and we can instead focus on further improving the forum. Thanks for the kind words, glad you're having fun. ..Al
Mental Vortex
After refreshing my DNS on my PC, I could get to the 2600/5200/7800/etc. sections from the main page but NOT from the Forums page. I'm guessing that'll fix itself as well in time as well, right?
moycon
Another weird thing in the Gallery when you first click on it the page shows you the # of pics posted and the the # of comments posted in each area. The comments posted for the pets and the members has incremented, even though no-one has made a comment yet. Just so you know, I'm not bitching about these things. That in fact is very trivial. Just noting weird things. Hmmmm Perhaps I should click on My Controls and use the BRAND NEW notepad to keep track of weirdness and post it all at once so I'm not spamming this thread??? rasty
All looks very very good, thanks for the effort Al and everyone involved! Playing around with the new options is fun, plus it looks to be working perfectly on FireFox too.. ! Anyhow I feel a post of mine from today may be missing.. but I might be wrong, I'll check again! Anyone has missing posts? Regards, Rasty.-

I can't even see what the main page looks like with the domain properly resolving, so hopefully it's not too screwed up (I did spend some time working on this to help make the transition smoother). I won't be able to get all the kinks out until the domain fully resolves for me. ..Al

Anyone has missing posts? 835103 Yes, any posts made from about 1am (CST) this morning to about 11am (CST) did not make the transition. At 1am we backed up the forum database, copied it to the new server, and started the conversion process. Sorry for the inconvenience, it was either that or keeping the forums offline for 10+ hours. I did post about it, but not really in enough time for everyone to be forewarned. ..Al

Osbo
Nice... I like the new look. I've got some message in my control panel telling me that my email is not current, but it is. If you PM me with the email address it's complaining about, I can take a look at what other accounts are using it. ..Al
kisrael
What's the equivalent of "show me threads I've posted to that have new activity"? That's the view that I most relied on to keep up with AtariAge...I see "show threads that I've statrt that have new activity" but that's not the same... Oh, and did you remove that little blurb? I used to have the week pun of "HMBL 2600 programmer and boston multiplayergamer" BTW, congrats...I know this was a long time coming. Maybe even longer than JoustPong/Flapping Edited April 11, 2005 by kisrael

However, they're easily put back in. Garak Edited April 11, 2005 by Garak

Garak 835158 This is correct, the custom status did not survive, so you'll need to go into your profile and add it. The "custom status" field isn't a standard user profile field, so it's not something the phpBB->IPB convertor was aware of. ..Al

I'm looking into setting up a 'one click solution' but in the meantime this should do the trick

In this software you can either get a listing of specific posts or a listing of threads started by the member, but you have to go to the search for a list of all threads that you have posted in regardless of whether you started them or not.
