iguana
Hello all, I am brand spanking new to this journey and to your boards. I have been reading them and you all seem very freindly and helpful so I thought I could ask out there. I would like to start "collecting" games. not really collecting but I miss them from when I was a kid. anyway, I know I could go to Ebay, but it seems so impersonal and the conquest of finding these things is not there. Any ideas of where to start then? Thanks
Cassidy Nolen
For starters, check out www.phillyclassic.com and plan a trip to that. Everybody there is awesome, and its the most fun on the east coast (ok, well, close). Welcome aboard a very windy and expensive path....... onklsven75
Thrift Stores, pawn shops, and garage sales is your best bet if you want that conquest feeling. I've been to some pretty dirty stores, but they always seem to have the rarest games. You'll usally find some games at video game exchanges too. Good luck hunting. iguana
Thanks Cassidy, I am only about an hour north of Philly so I can make it.
Osmeroid
Hail and well met Iguana! I'm glad to read that you are more missing happy memories than trying to make money. This is the very same reason I got back in to 2600. Welcome.
Joel D. Park
I started out because I missed many of the games from my child hood. The hobby has now exploded for me now, I want to, No I MUST get every atari game I can get my grubby paws on. By the way, Welcome to the boards and the wide world of the Atari. Atari-Jess
Same here Joel, I also MUST have all Atari that I see. I do not like to sell my video games trading is where I draw the line. (unless its an offer I cannot refuse.) (and no 1million dollars would not make me sell my atari stuff.)
StanJr
oh well, I guess I'll just keep that million I was about to offer you Atari-Jess! Welcome to the board Iguana! Hope you like it here. Check Flea Markets and such, but watch out for price gougers. Thrifts are the big atari treasure hunt, though. That's the REAL thrill of the hunt! Lemmi
Well for 1 million dollars (cash, no need for the government to find out) i would give up all my Video game stuff, my 2 TVs, my VCR's, my computer, my Fans (the ones with the blades that circulate air, not my real life fans ), My movie collection, my 20 inch BMX bike, and my Mom's Car Any takers? Lemmi
Well its a 1990 red Escort 2 door, (or 3 door if you count the hatch), 75,000 miles on it, no rust and just one tiny dent from a shopping cart Well?
Lemmi
Whats even more sad is that i got a 1989 chrysler Lebaron (new) and ive had so many problems with that car it isnt even funny, and my moms Escort hasnt had any major problems, and she keeps making fun of my car , i keep telling her to get a new one and give me the escort, but she wants nothing to do with that idea

Cassidy Nolen
Some thrift store suggestions: As far as thrift stores go, I have had my best luck in neighborhoods that have been established since the 70's; in other words, pre-urban sprawl. Around here, there has been so much construction in the last twenty years most people who live here have long since given these things away. In my opinion, the stores that have an older home community nearby are more likely to have these things, and more likely you will get what you want. I have also noticed that there is a trend twice a year of finding things: pre-holidays and spring cleaning. Its as if moving things around uncovers the old stuff, and then they donate it. Everybody may think I am nuts, but I have found, and I am not exaggerating, hundreds in the wild this way. Off the top of my head, finds have been: 40 loose and a telecenter 17 boxed, one sealed 1 5200 and 25 games for 25 bucks 1 7800 and ten games for 10 bucks lots of individuals (buck or two each) Works for me, hope it does for you all, too. BTW, how are we going to recognize each other at the show? Maybe we should all wear something that says atariage? This site rocks..... moycon
quoteBTW, how are we going to recognize each other at the show? Maybe we should all wear something that says atariage? This Cool idea. Maybe something to pin onto a shirt that tells everyone that you frequent Atari Age. There could be a place to write your avitar name. Good idea???
