Don't get me wrong im really looking foward to Marble Craze. I love it when people put that kinda stuff on atari games (video simon for one example). But just out of curiosity has anyone tryed to make marble madness on atari 2600? It could be done, it would be awsome. I really think this game would be good.

P.S.-No hard feeligs Paul im really looking foward to your game.

The main problem with Marble Madness is that it requires scrolling in all directions. If you somehow avoided this (tweaked the levels so they only need to scroll down or something) you could use the Crystal Castles kernal to pull it off. But I just hate looking at all those jagged diagonals on the Atari. I've always preferred to play Crystal Castles on the C64.

Marble Craze is going to have a lot of Marble Madness elements, but with an overhead view so you don't have to look at a bunch of cranked diagonals. It's not a straight port of that wooden marble game. The wooden marble game was just inspiration for the controller scheme.

Oops, I somewhat implied that with the news I posted on the front page,

"If you've ever seen one of those wooden games that use two knobs to tilt a board, guiding a marble around a maze, then you know what to expect from Marble Craze."

I guess that's not entirely accurate then, eh? It is a little ambiguous, though, so it's not like I said, "IT'S EXACTLY LIKE THOSE WOODEN MARBLE GAMES!"

Hehe. Actually I originally was planning on including a mode that was a straight port of the wooden marble game, but as I realized that it would be difficult to program and that the other mode would probably be more fun, I dropped the idea. What I'm envisioning is a multi-screen maze of platforms without walls. So you have to avoid falling off the edge, but make it to the finish as quickly as possible.

I AM SO GEEKED ABOUT MARBLE CRAZE!! Can I reserve my copy now? This thing is going to be awesome. I loved Marble Madness and even though I never played the wooden marble game (i've seen them, just not played them), I really like the idea of this game.

You mention power-ups will there be hazards as well? (like acid?)

Ahh, that would be pretty cool, although I imagine the "constantly rotating playfield" would be a bit difficult to pull off convincingly on the Atari 2600. However, this will be a pretty unique game on the 2600 and one that sounds like it could get quite infuriating (in the same way that Super Monkey Ball on the GameCube can be). Do any other Atari 2600 games use two paddle controllers at the same time, for the same player? Besides Stell-A-Sketch? (Hmmm, we need some more info and screenshots for that entry!) Oh, wait, and that uses the Driving Controllers, which makes sense.

This sounds cool, I liked the 2 paddle idea, Stan. However the control system turns out tho, its a winning idea, you just gotta make the ball move realistically (or at least predictably) cause those kind of games really stand or fall on the physics.
