Hi Everyone,

I have kinda weird question but I will be flying soon and will be carrying a few Atari 2600 protos with me.

I am a bit worried about X-Rays at the airport, can EPROMS support them ?

Maybe I am worring too much, have any of you took the plane with protos in your bag ?

Thanks for the info :)

Well not really, I've thrown one a few feet before but I didn't see any indication that it could keep aloft on its own...

Umm... Back on topic. Yes prototypes will go through an X-Ray device unharmed. I carried my entire prototype collection around to various conventions and they were perfectly safe. They even spent several minutes under the X-Ray device because the scanner didn't know what the heck they were.

Yes it's been scientifically proven that X-Rays will destroy EPROMS.

Please do not chance it.

Are you coming to Atlanta?

I will PM you my address and you can send me your entire prototype collection and avoid the destruction.

Well well...

I personnaly do not wanna chance it but I will have to move soon or later... and loosing even a single of my proto would be the worst day of my entire life...

But what Tempest said re-insure me, I know Xray can harm Eproms but I wasn't sure if the low dosage used in airports would. I may try with only one and see how it goes before I travel with a lot.

That would be a great idea but I'm not going to Atlanta ;)

You are kidding but I've been thinking many times to post them instead of flying with them. I remember flying one day with a Coleco handheld in my bag and they spend nearly ten minutes looking at it and asking me questions, like if it was a bomb remote control or something... they can really freak out on something like that...

LOL ! maybe we should try the ones without the loaner plastic box, maybe they can keep aloft with their little wings ;)

Thanks guys for your help !!!!!
