Hey guys,

As you may or may not know I am building an Arcade cab. to put a monitor and 2600 in. But lately I have been having second thoughts about something. I almost have the sides complete and I was thinking on the Cab. design. Originaly I was going to make a TRON theme to it, and paint the cab. black and stencil some flurescent and glow in the dark paint in a circuit board design. But then I was going to rig up some black lights and flurescent lights to the cab to make it really cool. I also was going to attach a neon light up gear shifter (Thats totally Tron looking) to the joystick.

But now Im having second thoughts. That would cost alot more money than I had planned. I also originally figured that making this out of wood would be cheap as hell... But now I find out that with the ammount of wood this is going to take its going to cost like 90 dollars. Im using the schools FFA wood (Future Farmers of America, for all you city folk', lol) The only problem I have with it being that much money is that I dont have a job and I know Im gonna have to leech it off my folks. (And dont even think about it... Me? Get a job? Chhhyaaa Right... Then I wouldnt have as much time to talk to you kind people on here.) And my parents are going to be pissed when they see the bill... So I figured I would not spend any extra money and make the cab. more simple with less wood and less paint. So I figured I could make it more simple colors and make it more of a PONG design. And make the cab. only paddle compatable. Which do you think I should do?

I'm glad to read that someone else has thought of creating a cab for the 2600!

I think you should get someone (which is what I want to do) with artistic talent to paint the whole cab black and paint either a silver or gold Atari symbol on either side, just like the logo on the console itself.

BTW, how are you building the cab? Do you have plans from a game manufacturer, or measurements you took yourself?

Actually Im just kinda' winging it...

I am doing the measurements myself, mostly the plans are in my head though. I dont actually have it on paper, but it is coming out quite nice so far. I also thought about putting the Fugi Logo on the side but then we go to hiring someone to do it good... Which would come into more money...and less blood.

BTW

I broke the bad news to my dear old mommy last night and, it looks like she will pay for it... I feel rather bad... But hell, Im getting an Arcade Cab.!

Your right, good call.

I just hope it doesnt come out looking all sloppy and all. I have this small (not hardly big enough for a whole side) sticker that came free with my Atari Anniversery Edition DC game that I tresure (I dont know why...) that I plan on putting on somewhere on the Cab. I refused to put the sticker anywhere so I am finally going to let my little bird fly and stick it on the cab somewhere.

Get a nice picture of the Atari logo, print it out onto a transparency film, and borrow an overhead projector. Project the logo onto the side of the cab, and trace it. I have used this technique for many things (not game cabinets, but mostly school junk), and it works really well. As for making the thing only paddle compatible, I'd say go ahead and put in a joystick! You'll feel really silly when a friend comes over and wants to play some game that uses joysticks, and you have to resort to a TV set...

Hey Cassidy,

I am in Virginia and would like to get ahold of that cabinet! Where in VA are you? As if you couldn't tell, my login is Va Beach. Do you have any working arcade games for sale? Let me know!
