Cool!

Aimee, take the 2600 Vader (All Black), is lighter and looks "modern".

If you can only take a shoebox full of games (I'm assuming 10-20 games) consider the following games:

1) Asteroids

2) Missile Command

3) Centipede

4) Galaxian

5) Joust

6) Ms. Pacman

7) Pitfall 1/2

8) Enduro

9) Pole Position

10) Jungle Hunt

11) Sea Quest

12) Moon Patrol

13) Battlezone

14) Frogger

15) Defender/Stargate

16) Chopper Command

17) Tac Scan

18) Berzerk

19) MegaMania

20) Phoenix

Now if your "shoebox" is Big enough you should also consider these:

21) Turmoil

22) SpiderFighter

23) BuckRogers

24) TronDiscs

25) Atlantis

26) Activision Tennis

27) Air-Sea-Battle

28) Qbert

29) DKJr.

30) TacScan

31) Boxing

32) Yar's Revenge

33) Freeway

34) Hero

35) Crackpots

36) Dishaster

37) Volleyball

38) Wormwar

39) Cosmic Ark

40) Space Invaders

I hope you can make up your mind, it's hard to live without any of those 40 games mentioned above, try to find a "big" shoebox

Good Luck!

Also, since I'm only taking a shoebox full of games, which ones do you think would be worth taking along?

Take the system that you wouldnt be to mad if someone stole it from you (you never know)

as for the games take the ones that you would play more then once a year and a few 2 player games (incase you want to embarass someone at college ), this is if you dont have the 128 in 1 or the 256 in 1 carts

Each set of paddle controllers is a pair whose cords join together to plug into a single controller port. Since the 2600 has two controller ports, four-player paddle games are possible.

The Warlords suggestion is good. I would add Video Olympics, which also includes some four-player games and has a greater number and breadth of gameplay variations.

I went to college once. In fact, it was quite recently

Here's what I brought when I was there:

For multi-player games

- Surround

- Warlords

- Winter Games

- California Games

- Decathlon

By far, Decathlon was the game everyone enjoyed the most, especcially when hooked up to a big TV at 3 am. Don't tell them what the last event is, though, until they get to it

Next up, I'd suggest to bring a few games that you thought were fun for yourself. I'd go with the good-graphics kind of games, to show that every 2600 game is not Combat. For these, I'd suggest Pitfall 2, Solaris, some supercharger stuff, and Midnight Magic.

Third, you may want to consider some basic commons. Most non-collectors are familiar with Combat, Asteroids, etc...

Lastly, you may want to bring a few homebrews. I always had a beta of Pressure Gauge II ready (4 player pressure gauge) to show people that active development was still going on. And, of course, a copy of Edtris and Thrust.

So, that's what played well when I was thre. I brought my 7800 to show off Alien Brigade, Scrapyard Dog, and Midnight Mutants, which people always marveled at, seeing how it could have very easily destroyed Nintendo.

I hope these suggestions will give you some fun times, and maybe even instill the collecting spirit into some of your friends. At the very least, they should be able to realize why you think it's such a cool and important system to you.

Wow! I remember bringing my 2600 to college (it was popular around the dorm as an alternative to the NES). Here are some games that were popular:

1. Space Invaders (two-player, cooperative mode was always big fun).

2. Warlords (absolutely nuts with four people).

3. Pele's Soccer (great fun for two).

4. Moon Patrol (folks went nuts over this one).

5. M-Network Football (great two-player football game for the system -- lots o' fun).

6. M-Network Baseball (same as above, only with baseball).

7. Ms. Pac-Man (never grows old)

8. Star Master (Activision delivered the goods with this one).

9. Robot Tank (another classic title from Activision)

10. Joust (absolutely addictive)

11. Asteroids (everyone remembers it and wants to play it)

12. Missile Command (ditto)

13. Air-Sea Battle (complete cheese, but crazy fun for two people)

14. Combat (come on -- it's more fun than a barrel of monkeys)

15. Demon Attack (how much fun could the 2600 be? A hell of a lot!)

16. Sea Quest (great Activision shooter -- people can play for hours)

17. Frogger (for obvious reasons -- great title)

18. Dig Dug (another great arcade port)

19. Indy 500 (a joy for 2 players)

20. Dodge 'Em (just classic)

21. Surround (simple, but this one has almost started fist fights before)

22. River Raid (come on. Everyone loves River Raid)

23. Berzerk (another great arcade port)

24. Adventure (always good for relaxation)

25. Food Fight (weird enough to please anyone)

26. Atlantis (another great Imagic title)

27. Video Pinball (sure, it's primitive, but the gameplay is strangely appealing)

28. Bowling (another one that can start a fight)

29. Chopper Command (forget about Defender -- Activision just stomped it with this title)

30. Yar's Revenge (one of the best for the system)

There are some suggestions, anyway. Hopefully, you'll go to college in a town with some good flea markets, pawn shops, thrift stores and such so you can expand that collection when in need of a "break"

I would bring any and everything you can. 2600,playstation whatever.

College is a time for playing games and having fun with your friends. You will never get the opportunity or time to do this again. So take full advantage of it.

Oh yeah and go to class some too.

Take the 2600 you will least mind losing or having broke.

As for games. Grab your favs, but for good conversation pieces among your new college friends. I would recommend a few good Homebrews.

1. Thrust (Unbelievable for a 2600 gams)

2. Oystron (fast, clear graphics, fun)

3. This planet Sucks (I just like it OK)

4. SCSIcide (Kaboom with a twist)

5. Console Wars (just kidding, my hack)

6. Qb (fast action and great puzzle game)

7. Crazy Valet or Jammed (I don't have jammed yet ,just ordered it, but I think they are similar)
