krambigmac
Let's say I wanna play Kaboom on a 7800 but want to use the small barrels. Can I do this on the 7800 or is a 2600 or vcs or whatever needed?
+-^CrossBow^-
Well..if a 2600 game just uses the standard difficulty switches then you can just use the difficulty switches next to the joystick ports on the 7800 to accomplish the same thing. However, some games (Shuttle comes to mind) require the use of the BW/COLOR switch for some functionality in the games. For those one either needs to find a workaround or accept the gameplay as it with a 7800. In Shuttle the primary engines are controlled with the BW/COLOR switch so you can't fire them off unless your willing to hold down the pause key while you control the thrust. Luckily Shuttle has a workaround. One of the difficulty switches is a backup engine control. So you can use the backup engine ingnition instead of the primary. StarMaster also originally required that one use the BW/COLOR switch to toggle your starmap so you could see where to warp to next. Luckily again, you can use either difficulty switch to accomplish this same task. The manual for Starmaster on the other hand states that one should leave both difficulty switches in the B position and never touch them during gameplay. Not sure why this is...but there it is. So in answer to your question. Only some games who rely on the use of the BW/Color switch are more interesting to play on the 7800. For the difficulty switches...such as in Kaboom! Just use the difficulty switches on the 7800 as you would on a 2600.
krambigmac
Ok thanks, I didn't know the difficulty switch was even on a 7800 since I didn't get it in yet.
mos6507
>> Go get yourself Donkey Kong for the 2600. Whoever made the graphics for DK needs to be taken out back and shot. << You try making a good looking ape with only 8 pixels per line. King Atari
Yeah, but they could have made DK look a little better.
