Albert
http://www.atariage.com/2600/conversions/r...etball_NTSC.zipIf you've wanted to play Atari's Realsports Basketball prototype on a real 2600, you'd have to be living in Europe and own a PAL television, or have an NTSC television that's tolerant of extra scanlines. To remedy this problem, Thomas Jentzsch has converted Realsports Basketball into a title that will play fine on NTSC televisions. You can download the binary image here. For more PAL to NTSC conversions that Thomas has created, please take a look at our 2600 TV Format Conversions page. Chuck Gill
Thomas, Thanks for these PAL -> NTSC conversions. I appreciate your effort. (I'm sure others do too!) -Chuck
Tempest
I'm confused, wasn't RS Basketball always NTSC? Is it just that Atari Age only had a PAL dump of it (which I didn't know existed) or there is no NTSC prototype? Tempest
King Atari
I've tried playing the game, and can't get anywhere. Maybe it needed some more polishing?
Alex
I'm not sure what the situation with RSBB was. When it was initially discovered/released I assumed it was NTSC. And as far as I know, there was/is only one dump of it. Apparently a cartridge version would only work on PAL systems, hence the hack by Thomas. So guess it was PAL all along? Pete Perpetua
What will be next ? Fatal Run ? Motorodeo ?
Thomas Jentzsch
quote: Originally posted by Tempest: I'm confused, wasn't RS Basketball always NTSC? Yes, and no. The prototype was NTSC from the color palette (no work for me there ). But it displayed 290 lines, which is closer to PAL than to NTSC and therefore a lot of NTSC TVs couldn't sync to that. So I simply reduced the number of lines (274) to get closer to NTSC standards (262).
