Atari Joe
I get the idea of "the 4-Bit Generation" as a concept stemming from marketing during the 8-Bit and 16-Bit systems, in the sense that even back then we thought of the 2600 / Intellivision generation as being "half that of the NES/SMS/7800" ... but on a technical level it's as far off as can be. I remember the first time I read the back of an Intellivision box and it said it was 16 bit and I nearly messed my pants. That made no sense to me at the time. Now it does. It's just the result of a marketing concept that is no longer with us. I think we'd be on the 256-Bit generation by now.

dwane413
Thanks for the link. I thought the User Manual on that page was interesting. I noticed this: How do you switch back to game menu while playing the game?Press the "START" and "SELECT" buttons simultaneously, and the screen will go back to the game menu. That's how I used to quickly advance the game level on Pele's Soccer back in the day and I noticed that this system has Championship Soccer. (For those who don't know, those are the same game under different names.)

The original importer/distributor had pulled the information from their websites. This is a new vendor. Also not the actual Flashback 3 from this thread. Just a plug and play firm out of Asia that licensed the name from Atari to throw on to their own console and call it the Flashback 3.
StephenJ
Sorry if this is old news... I decided to do a quick search for the latest FB3 info and found the following: http://www.gametronex.com/Atari-Flashback-3-Classic-Game-Console-p/reo-a1033.htm It says "...SD slot for more downloads. Game saving / Re-starting functions..." I guess they changed their minds about the SD thing.
garyd97
Following the FB3 is like riding a roller coaster. Good news though if this is true. I will have to purchase one of them. Curt Vendel
It does not have an SD card slot, that much I'm allowed to say. Don't ask anything else, I can't say anything as I'm under a very tight NDA.

Don't ask anything else, I can't say anything as I'm under a very tight NDA. Thanks for the info. Knowing that something really exists is nice. I just hope it's more than just another collection of games that I don't care much about. I'd like to be able to play my favorite classic games on there or games I make using batari Basic. If it's basically just another FB2 with a different collection of games, I probably won't buy one (unless I need more joysticks). I think I'll pass, until they go on clearance somewhere...
+LS650
Whil I welcome any new Atari 2600 hardware, the price of $80 seems kind of steep for what you get. If it had an SD slot or other method for loading additional ROMs I would be all over it, though... StephenJ
Hey again, Just a follow-up to my previous post... I contacted Gametronex to point out the error in the features-listing of the FB3 on their website (i.e. SD card support). They corrected the error.

player 0ne
there should be other new hardware for the 2600. like a new multiple cartdrige switching device. i just lost one on ebay. saw one a flea market and missed it. why arent new ones made. it would be fun to use new hardware with a new FB
nathanallan
A console holder would be nice for it; place for controllers, power supply, etc. Using the box is okay but it's cumbersome-- I know I like to preserve the cardboard as best I can. A small plastic holder (or not so small) that would sit on a shelf would be cool.
player 0ne
i'de liek to have a briefcase. something i can transport easy, pop open, have speaker and lcd and powersupply built into it. just open and grab a controller and play. or plug into tv for bigger play.
