Jag's not on there. I think it sucks the most.

It had a few fair games and could have been considered 'okay' hardware, so it isn't the worst there. It is 'the rest' of jag that kills it for me. Really the very 'attitude' surrounding that turd is the worst. Both the attitude in the ads back then and the attitude in the fanbase since. (I notice that it's the exact same attitude too) Jaguar is a rotten thing to be around, so I don't.

And yes, I realize that by even mentioning the system in a less than fully positive manner, I risk alerting the "community" to come in here and make my day just that much more special. That would be just fantastic.

Jag is a whole lot of drama with no real payoff. At least a lot of other bad systems on that list slipped into obscurity quietly. Nothing is quiet about Jaguar.

I can't understand why VB is on the list, but the Saturn isn't. Oh wait, it's the Internet, where any excuse to crap on the VB is welcomed.

Oh well, the Saturn is super awesome, anyway. The VB isn't.

Maybe all the truly great systems should be excused from this criminal line-up. That would leave only the VB, RCA Studio II, Emerson Arcadia 2001, and maybe a couple others.

(of course, one reason the Saturn isn't on their is because it is considered a more modern console. Notice the PS1 and beyond consoles aren't here. Only classic, however you define that.)

Quite an hard question.

First, did any of the voters heve tried all the systems listed?

Second... it's quite US centered, isn't it? :-D

Even if it's not, why are the C64 and TI99 listed, but not the Spectrum nor the Amstrad CPC? both were available in the USA, and both were huge sellers in Europe. And the TI99 was shortlived everywhere pretty much the same than the Spectrum was in the USA.

Even if obscure, the 1292 AVPS/interton VC4000 bring some memories in Europe, and not good ones most of the time (but, man.... Interton had kickass box art).

Also, why only the Lynx? I would have added the Microvision as an handheld system.

It did pretty bad, even if I don't consider it as a bad VGS really, but more like a failed experiment, or a kind of prototype/proof of concept that made it to the public too early.

The VB was on the market at the same time as the Saturn and PS. There's no reason to include one but not all three

Agree. I have a lot of these systems in my collection. Virtual Boy is one of my absolute favorites. Saturn.....not a fan. Compared to the PS1, it is just terrible.

I dunno. I'd take anything on that list before the Xbox 360. I had four of those things die in one year! Then when I brought my account up about a year after that on my brother's console, I found out that MS had "lost" about 300.00 of my purchased content in my purchase history and replaced it with "unknown game." Too bad I can't take my money back and tell them it was "unknown money." I know that Pac Man CE, Joust, and Super Contra were among the titles MS stole from me. Say what you will about Virtual Boy or 32X, but Nintendo and Sega never stole games from me once I bought them. Heck, Sega sent freebies all the time during the Saturn years. Virtua Fighter Remix and Christmas Nights were awesome.

I hate to bring it up, but Action Max probably deserves a spot on the list too.

I mean I wouldn't vote for it, because of Jaguar, but from a hardware and library perspective, it's hard to imagine much worse than Action Max. It may not even qualify as a game console depending on definition.

Perfectly said. The idea of buying something and having no way to install, give away, sell, more to new hardware, etc is just not good. Nintendo DSi/3Ds have similar issues.

So far so good for my Xbox 360. No RROD, no problems whatsoever. But, it might be a later model than the ones you had. And the fact that it doesn't get played very much? ;)

Failure rate aside... they actually lost my purchases! In their precious cloud, a few hundred dollars worth of my purchases are now unknown game even though those games are still in the shop. I shouldn't have to rebuy my games and MS shouldn't be able to keep my money. I think that is pretty scuzzy. I know the 360 isn't a classic and I don't mean to hijack, but if we're talking all consoles, that is my pick.

That excluded, I would go with CD-i. I just really hated that thing.

No, I agree with you, gorf. That was a lousy thing for M$ to do. But, I don't use cloud, and now I don't think I ever will.

My choice (to stay on topic) for the worst console is the Virtual Boy. Now, I know some of you love it, but from personal experience only, it gave me headaches. Other than that, I probably could have loved it, but couldn't get past that part of it.

Probably one of the ones I haven't played: Channel F, Arcadia 2001, RCA Studio 2 or Virtual Boy... not that they're bad, but I haven't experienced their cool games. Of the rest, which I've played & mostly owned, I'd probably have to go with Bally Astrocade. There are some fun games and it had some neat features, but the least amount relative to other systems. I voted for that since I didn't want to vote for a console I haven't played.

Of what's not listed, I'd put the Game.com up there. I have one with a couple games, never gets used.

I'm not actually casting a vote because there are too many consoles on the poll that I will never own and may never even play, but of all the ones I have played long enough to get a fair impression or them, I'd say the Odyssey 2. A friend of mine owned one when we were teenagers (he presumably had it for a while prior) but I just remember not being able to get into it. Never mind the fact that I was spoiled by both 8- and 16-bit systems by this point... I didn't like the needle-thin joystick and frankly the games weren't very fun. We are still great friends to this day, but sadly his Odyssey 2 no longer works. I would probably have more fun with it now as an adult and a collector, but I'm too busy collecting for the systems I already have to warrant seeking one out.

This reminds me of a story when I was a kid. My friend, who owned every single console when it came out the next day, had an Odyssey 2. I also played it, but couldn't get into it. He replaced it with a Colecovision, and that was the end of it. Years later I asked him about his old O2 and if he'd sell it to me. He told me that it no longer worked and the carts were missing. Funny, I had no desire to have it as a child, but as MH said, as an adult, I want it.

Okay I admit I never played RCA Studio II or Arcadia 2001. I don't want to own either anyway. Just almost everything I heard about both is ....yuck. I guess that's not fair though.

SO. Of all the consoles I have ever played, the Virtua Boy is one of the worst, if not the worst. I played the Virtua Boy once, long ago. Seemed interesting, but didn't really blow me away at all. In fact it made my eyes hurt.

Where is the APF Imagination Machine (The game console part was the MP1000)?

If the C64 and TI99 are on there, why not dozens of other computer systems?

At least an Atari 800 or an XL system.

I'd never vote for a computer though. Too many cool games on all those.

If I had to vote on something I actually PLAYED I would pick the Virtual Boy. I remember thinking it was a dud when I tried it a few times on a demo display way back when it was released. Just awful. Those years when Nintendo to me was getting a bit full of themselves.

Frankly, the RCA Studio 2 is the only system here that is basically PONG like hardware on this list so it's at a severe disadvantage.

How about Atari Ultra Pong Doubles? Oh yeah, a dozen variations of PONG type games and with psychedelic color thrown in to make you want to vomit.

Trust me, anyone that played that game system learned how to turn down the color on the TV in the first half hour.

Too bad I threw mine away, I could have gotten $50 for it on ebay.

I briefly had some other pong type game that came with a light gun. It was way more fun but it died within a few days and got exchanged for the Atari.

We should have asked for a refund. The Atari probably got used for less than 4 hours before it went back in the box to stay.

NES, like 20 good games rest is rubbish.

I've played more than 20 good games on the NES. Yes there is a lot of shovelware on the console, but that's true about a lot of other classic systems too, like Atari 2600, hello.

The NES has other things about it that's great even besides the game. Really good controllers, especially for the time. Composite output. Zapper. Things like that.
