China Syndrome... What the hell?

Can someone explain this game to me? I found it at a thrift store a week or so ago, and I'm having trouble figuring out what this game is supposed to be. There's no manual on AtariAge, so I've had to pretty much guess. Is the only point of the game to catch the dots while avoiding the swirling things? If so, then the game is pretty boring and monotonous... I really hope there's more to it than that.

I have to admit it. I have China Syndrome too, but I've never really played it. Probably because I couldn't find an instruction manual either.

The only clue to gameplay I could find is the overview printed on the back of the China Syndrome game box. It reads as follows:

For years the nuclear power plant, Spectra Island, has been producing

efficient, low cost power for the residents of Spectraville. But now an

earthquake has damaged the core. Dangerous radioactive particles are loose

and threaten explosion and meltdown. Your expertise is urgently needed to

recover the particles and restore normal power plant operating levels before

it's too late! Prevent disaster! Save Spectraville! Avoid the start of the

"China Syndrome."

Awesome, thanks Albert. Unfortunately, there's nothing to the game that I didn't already know I was hoping there would be some hidden depth to it that I didn't realize.

Gee, strange that the town is called Spectraville when the game is made by Spectravision... At least it was a little less obvious when the planet in M.U.L.E. was called Irata... (Or am I thinking of a different game?)
