DEFENDER II

Just got a Defender II cart recently, and man was I suprised!! I rarely hear much about htis game. It rules! So much better than the original "Defender". Hardly any flicker and the graphics/gameplay are pretty amazing. Guess I'm pretty surprised this never makes it on people "must have" lists...

Any thoughts?

It's definitely one of their best arcade carts, right up there with the Joust translation. If only they could do this sort of thing in 1982, Atari might still be around. Of course, the lack of mind-blowing stuff like Stargate wasn't what crashed the industry. Nor was it E.T., an underrated adventure game that I happen to love. No, it was third-party crapola like Coconuts and Picnic that made people realize to just what extent they could get burned for spending $30.

But, before this is moved to Off-Topic....

Stargate is awesome! I'm still amazed that it's a 2600 game when I fire it up, it's so close to the arcade. I'm trying to make a custom controller so I can have easy access to hyperspace, inviso and the smart bombs...

And, I also think that ET is very underrated as well!! The pits aren't THAT difficult to avoid...

Defender II is great game!! that I really enjoyed playing very much, and better graphic than the orginal Defender.

When I was teenager, I always playing the orginal Defender many times, until last year, I bought Defender II, I found out that it look much better and I never thought about orginal Defender better playing, but Defender II is great game!!

I just recently bought a copy of Defender II myself, and my reaction was very similar. I am amazed by all that the programmers managed to accomplish in that cart. The game play and graphics are incredible. It's a shame the game gets overlooked. It really is a superior 2600 title.

Yes it is....I was overlooked and unnoticed about Defender II in the past. I thought that only one Atari 2600 orginal Defender, but Atari did released Stargate (1984) and later changed to Defender II (1988).
