ScottHuggins Posted May 8, 2002 Share Posted May 8, 2002 Just got a Defender II cart recently, and man was I suprised!! I rarely hear much about htis game. It rules! So much better than the original "Defender". Hardly any flicker and the graphics/gameplay are pretty amazing. Guess I'm pretty surprised this never makes it on people "must have" lists... If only they could do this sort of thing in 1982, Atari might still be around. Of course, the lack of mind-blowing stuff like Stargate wasn't what crashed the industry. Nor was it E.T., an underrated adventure game that I happen to love. No, it was third-party crapola like Coconuts and Picnic that made people realize to just what extent they could get burned for spending $30. But, before this is moved to Off-Topic.... +johnnywc Posted May 8, 2002 Share Posted May 8, 2002 Stargate is awesome! I'm still amazed that it's a 2600 game when I fire it up, it's so close to the arcade. I'm trying to make a custom controller so I can have easy access to hyperspace, inviso and the smart bombs... And, I also think that ET is very underrated as well!! When I was teenager, I always playing the orginal Defender many times, until last year, I bought Defender II, I found out that it look much better and I never thought about orginal Defender better playing, but Defender II is great game!! I am amazed by all that the programmers managed to accomplish in that cart. The game play and graphics are incredible. It's a shame the game gets overlooked. It really is a superior 2600 title. I thought that only one Atari 2600 orginal Defender, but Atari did released Stargate (1984) and later changed to Defender II (1988).
