Varan
My original Atari 2600 suffered a little bit. I beat on it when I got pissed at the games. The main thing is that I broke the reset lever off completely. I had to use a screwdriver to connect the two pillars together to restart my game. Which I would do a lot. There was one game I had, I think it was Mountain King, that stopped working and I got pissed and smashed the cartridge. Then I took the chip and plugged it into my Atari and it worked great! Of course, just playing Decathlon was violent. That couldn't have been good for the joysticks.
StanJr
Good thing the VCS and its components are fairly durable. I have been known to throw the occasional joystick from time to time.
Opa Opa
The only violence on my 2600 is Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Chris++
I've found that when you're playing one of those games that frustrate you almost over the line of irrational violence against inanimate objects -- Solar Fox, Threshold, Enduro, etc. -- it really helps to plug in Sky Diver and let the guy splat over and over for a few minutes. Krytol
Half the joysticks I have found in the wild have chew marks on the stick.... I found a 2600jr. that looked as if it had been repeatedly stomped on.
lbaeza
Hey! Once I saw on the web some pics of a guy who drove his car over a 2600 and a 7800!!! Anyone got the URL? Regards

ATARIPITBULL
WOW, come of you guys are kind of mean to your systems, I would hit some one else before I hit my 2600.
Philflound
Well, if you can, get a punching bag so when you get really pissed, you just punch the bag. Since I would play my Atari on the bed, I would punch my pillow. As for the chewed joysticks. Is it the dog or the gamer? Maybe it was the baby teething. Great way to shut it up. I've been pissed at many a game. Now I'm getting pissed at my fiancee. She just nags and nags, and ignores when I tell her something, then five minutes later asks the same stupid question I just answered. Where is that punching bag? atarimastermarty
When I try to beat Crossbow I get really pissed. I usaully throw the joystick on the game cabinet. Then to relieve the stress I kill ALOT of people with Caliber .50 for the genesis.

You had better be careful that you don't throw the joystick so hard that it swings back around on its cord and hits you in the head. Then you'd really be mad. StanJr
You be surprised how many close calls of that sort I have had. I'm just glad the cord is not more elastic. [ 05-15-2002: Message edited by: StanJr ]
Joel D. Park
It's funny to think about it now, but my brother and I used to chew on all kinds of stuff, our atari joysticks were so chewed the White stick inside was actually exposed on the end of the joystick.. It's so stupid it makes me laugh. I used to eat pencils at school and my brother even ate the metal eraser ends.. He once had to buy his Math book at the end of the year because he ate the cover off the front. Wow, nervious energy maybe??
Philflound
If you were breastfed, I feel bad for your mom. She probably had sore nipples. Phil
Varan
Ever bite off your eraser and forget and go to erase and the metal scrapes on your paper? That's one of the worst things in the world.
Joel D. Park
Actually since we normally ate metal cap and all the back of the pencil had enough lead sticking out that it would write on the paper. :-)
jahfish
that's a good idea for JackAss ... let's tell johnny knoxville to piss into a running 2600 .... maybe also an xbox, maybe it feels different
