StanJr
Well, it took over 1.5 hours, but I finally rolled the wave counter on Defender. After 99 it resets to 0 and the difficulty drops back down to the level it is at upon game start. Needless to say, things get ridiculously easy at that point. I had a score of over 700,000 and could have rolled the score easily as well, but its like 215 am and I have no interest in spending another hour just to see my score go 999,999---000,000. Anyway, I did it.
NE146
What game variation did you play? Just curious
StanJr
I just play game 1 since the other variations (other than the all mutant variations) just start you out at a higher level (3 and 5 respectively) and then play the same the rest of the way through. ATARIPITBULL
I wish I had 1.5 hours all to my self to try a score like that but any of my free time belongs to other people. But back to the subject, great job on that high score Stan.
StanJr
Oh, I just thought that it started you on a higher level (which would necessitate a faster enemy speed, etc). I'll have to try it on the higher levels, then. I almost rolled Yar's Revenge today, but had to go to work. I was only 45 mins into the game, but I was playing game 1, not Ultimate Yar. That's still not easy.
NE146
Actually it doesnt just change the starting stage, the variants also affect the enemies speed. For example, Game 2 has a faster humanoid pickup speed and the mutant and baiter speed is faster as well. So, game 1 = slow, start at stage 1 game 2 = fast, start at stage 1 game 3 = mutant training mission, start at stage 1 Then it repeats the cycle from game 4 on with the only difference being the stage you start on. Don't get me wrong though Stan my boy as I'm not putting down your accomplishment at all but rather just chatting 2600. I really don't doubt at all that you could still roll the score at game variation 2 if you went for it as I've seen all your the other ones you've posted.
