Email this cat..

He is the cyberpimp of all that is odd. I recall there being a set of these new for sale a few years back. IIRC, I think he got them.

You do know there are tons of parts that make them work, right?

I envy the size of your game room.

I've been there before, that guy does indeed have all the weird machincal crap that you can ask for. I remember him having most of a set of CC robots at one point. They're still creepy looking...

Why do I get the feeling that whenever an attractive lady comes in he pulls her aside, takes her photo then allows her to do whatever it was she was doing?

The first photo isn't so suspicious, but the second one was...

He seems like a cool enough guy though. :P

Someone has been trying to sell a set of the robots from a Major Magic's show on ebay for several months with no luck. I believe it was a closed Major Magic's in Michigan.

This is funny because I'm originally from Michigan....I've been to Marvelous Marvin's Mechanical Museum a million times and I know he has some old Chuck E Cheese characters in the cieling ledge. That Major Magic's idea sounds great...but I can't seem to track anything down ????? As for Marvin, I will try. Any other leads??

if you're willing to pay the price, you can always get yourself any of the shows that Creative Engineering produced here: http://www.robotsandgames.com/. While they aren't exactly the Chuck E. Cheese robots (it is the Rock A Fire Explosion animatronics that were later converted into Chuck E Cheese characters when Show Biz Pizza got remodeled into more Chuck E Cheese restaurants). Not sure if those are the robots you are talking about or if you are looking for the true, original chuck e cheese animatronics.

If the animatronics you are thinking of ARE the converted ones, I think you might be SOL - I was informed by the tech guy at my local Chuck E Cheese's that any of the animatronic shows that are taken out of commission now are distributed to other functional shows for spare parts (and trust me - the one in my town REALLY needed spare parts after 20 years of service with very little maintenance)

Not sure if this helps or not, but good luck! I've always been interested in animatronics.

Thanx Atariman! I did find Creative Enigineering's site last night and my idea was a bit crushed when I found out that they sell them easily for $100,000. Which is out of my ballpark. I was basically looking for any leads on older broken characters for cheaper prices...whether it be Chuck E Cheese, Rock-A-Fire Explosion, Major Magic's etc etc. I collect vintage toys and carnival pieces....it would be a nice addition.

CEC robots are quite hard to come by. Like was already mentioned, any salvageable parts are re-distributed throughout the company. Any older robots which are no longer used, like the original CEC heads sticking out from the stage, the hippopotamus, or the lion dressed like Elvis, are destroyed on-site when they are decommissioned with detailed pictures sent back to the company.

At least that's how they did it when I worked there back in the early 90's. Could be different these days.

Nope, its the same, and they do the same thing to arcade cabs.

I was crushed when I found out my local CnC TMNT machine got destroyed a couple years ago.

There was a story on one of the others forums where a guy found a Simpson's Pinball Party in the dumpster by CEC.... Yes that's the newer Stern one!

Try looking around here:

http://www.showbizpizzaforum.com/

you'll have to register to get to the marketplace. Things do pop up there now and again.

Be forewarned, it will cost about as much to restore a beat-up set as it would to buy a new set. Plus the hassle of finding spare parts and learning how to fix the things. On the plus side, you might be able to do it one piece at a time. Not having to have all the $$$ upfront at one time is nice.

If you get something, please post pics.

One question- are you looking to have a working set, or just something for display?
