Has anyone heard any new info. on this title? is it still Missing in Action? This would be an awesome title to have on the 7800? Was this one completed? Anyone have any info. or screenshots on this one?

Do we have to have a post about this every other month? Yes there is a prototype of it out there, yes it appears to be complete, yes there are screenshots out there, and no it hasn't been released because the people who own it simply don't want to.

Or because they haven't been able to get the cartridge to copy, and the guy who owns it has been taking a break from collecting in general, so his efforts haven't been particularly great.

No need to sound so bitter :(

It seems like this question comes up every month. People just don't bother to do searches anymore...

There have been numerous offers from many people offering help in dumping the cart, but all have been refused. The last time it was seen was about 3 years ago.

That's the madenning part, though it is the right of the people with the prototype. Unfortunately, it just points to the ugly side of collecting. Some people don't want to share with others.

Well people aren't missing much honestly. Think 7800 version of POW for the NES and you get the idea. It was a generic side scrolling beat em up.

I'd love to have a copy. Hell I'm one of the ones that offered $1k to get it going and like you pointed out Tempest nothing ever comes of it.

The other game that was shown at Philly was a two-at-a-time shoot-em-up and was much nicer. I think I was the only one who saw it. The person showing it (the present owner I believe), was having difficulty getting it to run. It kept crashing after a minute or so. Luckily this game was released on the ST and could be rewritten for the 7800 if someone wanted to. I think it's called Plutos or something like that.

Yep it's Plutos. The other of the 3 I know are in hands of collectors is Skyfox. Electrocop existed but I dunno if it's around anymore, shame it disapeared like it did before getting into "the right hands" to save it.

There's also another shooter in the same hands. I think it's called Sirius.

OK! Had no idea. Some of us on here do go to school and work and have very little time on here to see what is going on. I'm hardly on here sometimes. But thank you for the info. anyway. :D

Why is "this person" always shrouded in such secrecy? Is it someone any of us would know? Does he realize that if the cart was mass produced, the original prototype would still be valuable?

Hi Vinnie

i would like to know,if there is anyone, who knows the owner of MIA.

I would pay 100 dollars only for the bin.

greetings Walter

If you search on this board you will find out his name. I know he doesn't want to be bothered. I also know he wanted to make copies of the games and sell them (at least at one time) but he was having trouble getting the rom off the cart (this was a number of years ago.). I don't think he wanted to let someone else dump the games for him though. It's his choice. Yea, I'd love to have the carts or roms but it's not up to me so there is no sense beating a dead horse over it. Better to learn how to program the 7800 and write my own games (which I'm doing (slowly)). Offering him money probably isn't going to work (especially something like $100.)

Just think what could be accomplished if everyone saved their energy (and wallets) for exciting new projects instead of uselessly expending lots of effort trying to get a copy of some old piece o' crap from someone who isn't interested in sharing. Much more productive to encourage our 7800 coders with our attention and money. And MIA apparently sucks. it's not as if this is Phear, people!

I buy every single 7800 game that comes out. There have been ALOT of Pac-man games that have come out recently and I have supported those people as much as I can as well as anyone else that puts out a game. I do this to have the best review-based 7800 website I can, but also because I love the system.

The shame to me is this: There was a completed 7800 game that was never released, and because of someone's selfish motives no one else can enjoy it. It wasnt like there was 900 7800 games so who cares, there was 57. The system itself is still a mystery. Games like Midnight Mutants and Tower Toppler show us there is great potential in the system, but we really haven't experienced the ceiling. So any new game that is made or any old game that is found is like another piece of a puzzle to what this system is about.

I guess the guy has a right to do what he wants with what he owns, but he could make a lot of people happy if he just released it/ dumped it/ provide the ROM, etc. If the guy isnt into collecting anymore, he should sell the dam thing :)

It's not about hoarding the game-the fellow in question has released others through reproductions and downright rom releases. They just can't get it to copy, and last time I talked to him, he said that it wasn't a high priority in his life right now, but that he'd try to get it to copy and made available to the community when the time arises.

Bothering him about it won't make it happen any faster, and all the negativity and complaining that happens in the hobby is the main reason he's distanced himself from it in the first place(hence why I'm not saying who it is). Just be patient, and it will come out eventually :P

Oh, ok, then

I'll take off that hex
