Atari 2600 Field Service Repair Manual Online?

After bidding on one at eBay last month and it went for $85.. Is the Atari 2600 Field Service Repair Manual been scanned and is available online to view or download?

I am wanting to look and see what information is available and hopefully learn some new things from it and further advance my Atari 2600 hardware creations and get ideas for new projects.

For the $85 price sticker it doesn't look like I will be able to afford one for a very long time to come.

If it is not available online is any one interested in scanning it and putting it online?

Thanks for the tip, that's a more reasonable price.

Does the Atari 2600 Field Service Repair Manual not exsit currently online?

I think that is rather odd, you can find just about everything Atari 2600 related online, but not this. Why isn't it online, no one bothered to do it yet or is there another reason?

Well, I don't have the PAL version but the NTSC version is in black and white. It uses 8 1/2 x 11 paper and runs to about 85 doublesided pages. They are made to go in a 3 ring binder sold seperately($3.50).

Both the 2600 and 5200 service manuals were online at Grant LeTourneau's web site at one point in the past but they disappeared about two years ago. Unfortunately, I didn't ever download it.

I just looked up the prices for the service manuals at Best Electronics and the 2600 NTSC is $30, 2600 PAL $25, 5200 $35. There is also a SAMS 2600A service manual for $12.

I think I have a few of those 3-ring binders. Are those the silver ones? 85 pages isn't too bad, I think it's time to get the automatic sheet feeder for my scanner. That would have come in handy when I scanned the Magicard manual, among other things.

It would be nice if someone downloaded and saved them, as that would save me a lot of work. Do you know who did the original work of scanning them?

I'll have to purchase these. I'm not sure I'd want to put the SAMS manual online, since they're still in business and may not look too favorably on it. Although who knows, maybe they'd grant us permission to put it online--it's not like it'll ever be a source of potential revenue again for them.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!

I'm not sure about everyone else, but you would have my eternal thanks for putting the manual online here at AtariAge!

Albert once the manual has been scanned would you or anyone else be able or want to put it on a CD and sell it to me for a fee?

I think that scanning the manual is a large undertaking and I should show my gradatue for it, I have a few ideas I'll see what you would prefer later on.
