Important Note: This weeks competition is over, and no further scores will be accepted.

The evil robot ZAXXON and its fierce armies have conquered an asteroid belt. You must stop them before they enslave the entire galaxy! Pass the barrier on the first asteroid, then dive to the enemy surface. Evade fire from gun turrets and mobots as you search for the Robot Warrior. Once you successfully cross the asteroid fortress, you must fly through deep space. Avoid the enemy squadron combing the galaxy in search of your fighter! Can you defeat the evil Zaxxon?

Hints and Tips

As always, you really should read the manual. In case you don't have the manual, AtariAge has a typed copy available online. Unfortunately, it doesn't provide any direct hints, but it's still worth reading.
TIP: When you get to the barriers to try and find the proper altitude fire at the wall if the shot explodes so will you if you remain at that altitude if it goes through then there is a fair chance that you will be fine... its hard to judge altitudes in this game
Tips:

-- Make sure you shoot as many of the fuel tanks as you can, to stay fueled up.

-- Sometimes it's best to hug the ground and avoid the ships that are at higher altitudes, so you can get more fuel tanks, but watch out for the tanks or whatever they are; they may look like they're hovering above the ground, but they're actually at ground level.

-- When you get to the robot, try to find the right altitude to hit the little guy. (Ze_ro: Apparently, the "little guy" is the missile)

-- When you get to the force fields, keep shooting to find the right altitude to get through the slits; if your shots make it through, so will you.

-- When you get to a wall that has openings on the left and right, try to remember which side to go through to get the best shots at the fuel tanks.

-- When you get through each run and get to the wave of ships in space, keep firing and moving back and forth.

Best Zaxxon tip: go with the flow and stop thinking about tactics.
My tip is to stay low on the faster levels. Fuel is the most important thing. You're toast if you go into the robot level with low fuel. If you defeat the robot, you'll be screwed as you go on to the next stage.

Correction: I meant the tanks; the saucers are obviously at ground level, but the tanks have shadows that make them look like they're hovering above the ground, although they're at ground level.

When you get through each run and get to the wave of ships in space, keep firing and moving back and forth.
