Hi there!

So, vdub_bobby asked me to continue with this monthly series once again, especially when he noticed that so far there never was a Namco poll :)

For december here's the un-2600-ified Namco range from (79-81).

And the question is again: Which of these is the most desired for the Atari 2600?

Greetings,

Manuel

I was thinking the other day that Son Son might actually work good on the 2600.. but that's a Capcom game :D

As far as Namco.. I'd imagine King and Balloon could be done, but I see Galaga there. If that's possible that would be the most obvious popular choice I think. It'd definitely be interesting no matter what the result :)

'_bobby, it looks like you could take the Go Fish! game and turn it into Kaitei Takara Sagashi with a little luck. :-)

Exactly my thoughts! It seems Go Fish! has all kernels ready for a KTS port ;)

Son Son is a must! :D

Unless I'm missing something, it's "just" Galaxian with these differences:

- The capture sequence

- The "Swarming in" of the Galaxians

- The occasional 1-to-3 transmogrification of a Galaxian.

With 2600 Galaxian available as living proof-of-concept already, it doesn't seem impossible to add these extra features.

Forced to choose, I'd go with Bosconian though :)

One thing to add:

- Challenging Stages :) (Bonus Rounds)

I actually voted for Galaga as well :)

I don't know if it's possible, but I'd have to go with New Rally-X, too. I love that game! I even have it on my cell phone. :)

Everything's possible - with compromises. ;)

Yeah, but it looks like we're losing out to Bosconian, Bob.

I don't know why you guys like that game so much. There are already similar games on the 2600 and if I had to go with a Space Game to port to it, I would definitely pick Sinistar over Bosconian, especially if they could get the voice in there.

I LIVE!

Most illogical statement I read in a while. => Sinistar 2600

I can dream, can't I?

EDIT: I didn't notice you had a link to the Atari Sinistar Prototype page.

I like it, but it's so unpolished with a so much flicker the ships pretty much just disappear and reappear on the screen. And of course... no voice.

I got a chance to play the arcade at the Southern Cal Classic Collector's Meet and I was totally blown away! I want it! :lust:

Of a conversion that already exists? Because it is much better to have a second port of the same game, rather than convert a game with "similar games" already available?

Uh, yeah. See modified post above.

Speaking of Rally-X and Bosconian. Anyone ever notice the screen layouts are so similar?

Although I know for a fact the hardware is very different (Jrok told me that.. and he'd know ). But for the 2600's purposes, maybe making one would facilitate the other since they'd maybe use almost the same display kernel? I don't know.. just a thought. :?

And 2600 Bosconian would be different how?

Yeah, you're probably right. I'll stop my complaining and just enjoy the flickery wonderfulness that is the 2600. :)
