  1. I loved the 5200 joysticks back in 1982, and I love them now. The "feel" is better than any other joystick I've used. And of course, having "start", "reset" and "PAUSE" on the joystick.....is just the best. I remember going to different friends houses back in 1982, and playing Intellivision or Colecovision and having loads of fun. But it was when I got an ATARI 5200, that I realized how awkward the joysticks for those other systems really were. Most of my friends with the other systems also preferred my 5200 joysticks. In regards to the Pac-Man/Ms. Pac-Man joystick curse.......I have no problem controlling my Pac-man or Pac-woman. Maybe I did the first couple times playing them, but I can't remember it. It's just automatic that I start a turn about a half second early. It's really not a problem.
  2. ATTENTION!....All ATARI 5200 Owners! Come help make this a great quick reference guide for all ATARI 5200 players. Visit the page and rate (by percentage points) all your ATARI 5200 cartridges. www.ataritimes.com/classics/reviews/52list.html [ 04-30-2002: Message edited by: PECOS BILL ]
  3. Hello everyone, I recently tried to play GYRUSS by Parker Brothers on my Atari 5200. The cartridge boots up perfectly (no "sweet spot" searching). The problem is, my ship won't rotate the full 360 degrees. I've tried four different working joysticks with it, but they all have the same problem. I came to the conclusion that it must be the cartridge. Do you think a good cleaning would fix this problem? If so, WHAT IS THE BEST METHOD for cleaning 3rd Party cartridges??? Thanks, PECOS BILL

  5. Thank you Tempest! But let me be more specific. I can get my ship to rotate clockwise from bottom to bottom again, but it won't keep circling. In otherwords, I can't continue going around and around in the same direction. Once I rotate clockwise from 6 o'clock to 6 o'clock, I can't get to 7 o'clock by continuing clockwise. I have to go counter-clockwise all the way back around, to get to 7 o'clock. Is this just the way the game is supposed to work, or do you think there might be a glitch in the cart? PECOS BILL
  6. Albert- Thanks for the welcome to Atari Age! Yes, I am hoping to play Tempest on my Atari 5200. It is my all time favorite arcade game. I've acually been tempted to look for and buy an upright coin-op of it. I know that it does exist in an unfinished state on ROM. But I was hoping that there was a way to get a 5200 unit cartridge. Thanks to all of you for your replies!
  7. Has anyone ever heard of a "Tempest" cart for the Atari 5200?
