  1. I would recommend trying it with a proper power supply. There have been reports of disc problems when using a model 2 supply. Also, there is a common problem where the disc door closed button sticks down and the unit does ot detect that you have opened it. There are documents out on how to fix that but I don't have the link handy.
  2. I can understand the "no stock photo" rule, but not the over 500 feedback one. Who is going to have over 500 feedback? That's right, the bigger dealer who will know the system and know how to get the most money he can out of his auction. I can guarantee you that the mom and pop who decide to throw some of their old stuff up on this "eBay thing" will never get 500 feedback, but may provide the better deal. After all, when going through a flea market, who do you usually look for, the professional guy with the big set up who is there every weekend, or the mom and pop hoping to score a few bucks from the stuff in their garage or basement?
  3. Also on a semi-related note based on the eBay links in the replies here: VGA is the best known of the grading services out there. They are the same outfit that are involved in the grading of action figures and other stuff as well. The other one, the guy with the eBay name of video_game_quality is laughed at on a number of sites. Part of the problem is that he grades the items and sells them. Is it just me or is that a conflict of interest? That is the same thing that bothers me about Beckett magazine offering a grading service and providing the price guide as well as selling graded items. Also with respect to video_game_quality, he had a game up a while back that gave me a laugh. I forget the grade and whether or not it was sealed, but it was a copy of one of the Shining Force games for the Genesis, except that his custom made sticker on the sealed case said, "Shinig Force" or some other typo like that. Yeah, I'll pay $250 for a game with a misspelled label. Oh, this guy also offers "Custom Made" empty boxes for a number of games. A bargain at only $25 a pop. I guess these are for the people that aren't aware of the Universal Game cases and the Cover Project.
  4. Why is Missile Command sealed in a Ziplock freezer bag? And why is there a sticker with a pic of a pile of dog poo on it? I hope that you are being sarcastic, but in case you are not: Back when VGA was starting to grade sealed video games, someone on one of the gaming web sites, (I can't remember which site), made this up as a spoof and I guess got it sold on eBay.
  5. Newegg is still offering it for $15 on their site. That was where I got my copy.
  6. 3 down, 1 to go. Thanks Pixelboy. Wiki says that RPM Racing even uses the same engine as Racing Destruction Set, which is fascinating. I remember thinking that RPM looked very much like Racing Destruction Set. The cool thing about them is that you could create you own tracks. Racing Destruction sucked if you were the motorcycle and got stuck between two hills.
  7. I usually have problems with collecting. Whenever I go to a flea market or thrift my wife will ask me what I am looking for. My usual answer is, "Whatever catches my eye." Therein lies the problem. I have tried to cut back to what I actually might play or want to get a set of. I will also pick up things that I know I can flip. Of course, I usually wind up not being able to flip things. I still find myself wanting to buy things, but I resist to the best that I can.
  8. I wasn't aware that such a beast exists.
  9. I bought a bunch of Game Boy games in a lot and one of them was the Mary-Kate and Ashley data storage thing and when you turn it on it has the name and phone number of the girl who owned it.
  10. The one that jumps to mind for me may not be too classic, it is Trigger Man for the PS2. The other game that I bought that I was most disappointed in was Pier Solar. <Donning flame proof suit>
  11. I was just given a Move set-up. A buddy of mine got the 'Double O' edition of Goldeneye for Christmas and he likes it better with the controller. He gave me everything else that came with it except the game. I now have the controller pair, the camera, and the gun for the Move. I was going to look for games to play with it and had forgotten about RE5. I had been wanting that one anyway. Guess I might need to break out the GS gift card.
  12. I wound up buying a lot from the Goodwill auction site that was a modded PS1 and about a dozen discs. They had no problems doing a refund on it since it was bootleg. The only reason that I didn't keep it was that the games weren't that good. I have also seen bootleg DVDs at my local Goodwill.
  13. My CL has gotten worse lately since there are 2 or 3 game dealers that are posting ads looking to buy games which means that they are also looking at all the for sale ads. I did luck out a while back and pick up a boxed Jaguar that didn't work, (red screen of death), and 10 games (9 of them boxed) for $10. At the same time I picked up a pair of Genesis model 2 systems that had issues and some games for another $10.
  14. Even Goodwill has gotten outrageous with their starting bids. They have a couple auctions up right now for some Atari Age magazines. They are issues 1 and 2. The starting bids are $99.99 for issue 1 and $24.99 for issue 2. They also have an auction up for issues 1 and 2 of the Atari Age newsletter. The starting bid for the pair is a measly $199.99. I wonder why these auctions don't have any bids with only 1 day left? http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=9140021 http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=9140023 http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=9140087
  15. I checked the listing and it is only $4,799.00. Don't know if the OP made a typo or if the eBay seller changed it. Also, if you check his other items, he has some other overpriced "graded" stuff for sale. In fact, you can blow another $3,000 and get a new Turbo Duo with 12 "graded", sealed games to not play on your "graded", sealed system.
