  1. If the game companies are going to release sequels/rehashes/reboots, they need to look back in their catalogs and pick games that are more deserving of sequels/reboots. Starflight, Freedom Force, M1 Tank Platoon, Masters of Orion, etc... there are just hundreds of abandoned titles.
  2. Nothing says hardcore like an IPhone app.
  3. Once you get Visual Pinball and PinMame installed, make sure to get a frontend. I use VPLauncher myself. I personally didn't find it hard to get everything running. And of course, http://www.vpforums.org/ is the best resource to use.
  4. Geez....the Vic 20, C-64, C-128, Plus/4, C-16, C-232, C-264....and the only one you really needed was the C-64.
  5. Anyone who was into BBS's couldn't possibly have not played games like L.O.R.D., Eye of the Falcon, or many of the other ones available. I actually have many of those games on a CD, and fire them up once in a while just for some memories. Any of the AGI/SCI games by Sierra were good. King's Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest etc... I collected Sierra's entire collection up until the release of King's Quest 8...that's when they lost me. How I wish that the Williams' hadn't sold Sierra to Vivendi.
  6. Actually, I got the movie in a huge collection my neighbor gave me when he moved. The movie itself wasn't overly thrilling, and Ariel's scene was ho-hum.
  7. Geez....nobody has mentioned: M.U.L.E. (the reason I bought a PCJr) , Pirates!, Starflight (the reason I upgraded from my PCJr), or even Civilization (The reason I bought a 286)....of course everyone has their favorites, and all games mentioned so far are indeed classics.
  8. Hey, where's my Joe Camel video game?
  9. They brought it upon themselves. Such loose licensing created a massive glut of below mediocre games, and with so many games on the market, there wasn't much profit to be made. As we all know, it's not the systems that create revenue, it's the software/games. In '84, the big-boys were more concerned with outdoing each other, maneuvering for arcade game rights for home video games, and planning the "next generation" systems, then they were with cooperating. Luckily the crash didn't really do anything more than usher in the NES era and get rid of the weaker parties. I sure would have loved to have seen Coleco stay in the game though. I think that they could have made a system to compete with the NES.
  10. Before we get into a pitched argument, let's know the truth about how software companies work. When a gaming developer makes a game, they are usually paid up front for development costs...or at least given an advance. Once the product is completed, then the publisher pays for the final product. The software developer gets their money then and there. The publisher then packages the product, and the outlets (Best Buy, EB, Wal-Mart etc...) pay their money to the publisher. So the developers and publishers already have their money up front. So whenever you get "warez", you aren't hurting the developers and publishers as much as you are hurting the software outlets. I personally buy 5-10 games a year...any game that I don't care to buy, I just borrow from friends and then return when I am done. Sure, I've copied a few of them...but it's not anything habitual.
  11. Let's see....what VCD's have I got in the past year? 1) Jurassic Park 3 - bought the DVD when it was released. 2) LOTR - bought the DVD 3) Harry Potter - bought the DVD 4) Vanilla Sky - bought the DVD I wasn't promoting the copying of DVD's. I was just making the point that because movies are so damn expensive to go to at theaters these days, that the difference between the quality of VHS/VCD/DVD doesn't really matter. I'm glad you have high morals...that's very impressive. I notice that you didn't bark at the others who actually paid money for VCD's from companies in Hong Kong. Oh sure, I would put money on those VCD's being legit. The difference with me is that I didn't pay money for them.
  12. I also have numerous VCD/SVCD's (not store bought), and although the quality doesn't even begin to compare to a real DVD, there is nothing like watching my kids' eyes light up when I pop a CD-R into my DVD player and suddenly the screen fills with a movie that hasn't hit the theater...or is just hitting the theater. Taking 4 kids and a wife to the movies is no cheap prospect...so watching the movies at home with our own sodas and popcorn is the next best thing. Sure, the quality isn't top-notch...but it suffices.
  13. So Ariel was at CGE2k2? Was she autographing copies of the XXX movie(s) that she has been in? I won't give any links, but the keywords "Filthy Frank's Real Amateur Porn 11" will direct you to one of the movies. I think she needs some acting lessons.
  14. I live about 65 miles away from Alamogordo...and drive up to the White Sands area, and as far as Roswell several times a year. I sure would love to know the general area of this landfill because I could make several trips a year looking for goodies.
