  3. Hi all! I'm a 17-year-old computer whizz kid who loves his space simulations, but I'm always drawn back to classics such as Asteroids, Battlezone and Combat. I think it's a shame that most kids my age want nothing to do with systems that can't make a 3D image to save its life. I've loved retro consoles since before I can remember (I've still got my SNES that I've had from new! ) and I've just sold my C64 to make way for a 7800; I've also got the C64 & Atari plug-n-play joysticks, the Atari Flashback console and the N-Joypad console. It really annoys me when I say to my little bro (who has just gotten an XBOX 360, I might add...) "What do you think of this game?" and motion to the screen, his response it always "s'crap" as soon as he sees the 2D sprites. He grudgingly has 2-players with me when he's bored on the promise of "One go only...", but he always gets into the game after a while and we end up playing Combat for an hour. Kids today! (Oh my God, that makes me sound old... ) Chris
  4. I vote neither. I doubt warner could have kept Atari afloat as long as Tramiel did, but he was a tight bastard who wanted to keep as much money in his pocket as possible. Like the removal of the expansion port on the 7800, WFT^^? And the virtually non-existent video game library for it. I have enormous respect for CBM as they managed to sell more units in the history of computing, even though the C64 was outstripped by passing butterflies if you get what I mean. I think if Atari had gotten Amiga, CBM would have found some way to bounce back and steal the market from them; I'm sure the C65 would have been far superior to the Amiga if it had ever gotten out of the prototype room. Just my twi cents; or pennies, as I am British...
  5. I'm not sure what verion it is, it's the built-in one.
  6. Cheers for the heads-up with the siggys! And the welcome! I'm guessing mine is a 3rd generation model, cos there's nothing on the left side of it; I'll just have to watch out for Intellivision carts. I noticed while playing Asteriods, an annoying flicker on my TV; first I just guessed it was my telly cos it's pretty old, but I've been reading about it on this website and it seems to be an Atari thing, is there any way toremedy this? Also, on the bak next to the RF socket, is there suppoosed to be a switch or something? I've just got a hole. Cheers
  7. Hi all, I just got my first 7800 eBay for an amazing £1.20! Practically mint, still in its originalal box (barely, lol), original controllers and instruction manuals for it and Asteriods. No games, though. But I've just won COMBAT for 99p, so yay me! But I have one question: What are the switches on the front for? Chris
