  1. Hello Everyone. I currently have listed some more retro computer and video game items on eBay. Below are some examples of what I have posted... Atari 130XE in box. 50 NOS DS/DD floppy diskettes. Commodore 128 computer. Commodore VIC-20 in box. Data 20's Z-80 Video Pak Apple II Atarisoft titles in shrinkwrap (NOS). I plan to add more in the coming days/weeks, so keep an eye open for updates to this thread. My eBay Listings Thanks for your interest! John
  2. @Living Room Arcade Thanks. I'll definitely print that out for now on nice glossy paper. Should hold over until/if an official manual is printed.
  3. I just checked out the latest Stella release and the high score saving. It's definitely a start but is near impossible to use in a cabinet, or a console where you don't have a keyboard. A key could be mapped to pull up the High Score table, but the problem is entering your initials. Without a keyboard it doesn't seem to work. I tried using my joystick. Perhaps a future update will include a way to use the controller to scroll through the alphabet like many arcade games did and then you could just press fire or the mapped INSERT button when you are done and the score and initials are saved in the program. Still a great feature and hopefully one that will grow in time. I'd really love to see in game high score tables, but I guess that would be too much work to edit the roms for each game like Asteroids, Missile Command, etc. and add code to implement high score tables for each game type. That would be a cool feature, but each game being different would probably be a nightmare to implement.
  4. @fdr4prez No need for my Intellivision games on the PC emulator as I have an Intellivision Ultimate Flashback with all the games and such. I love that system and I have it in its own storage case with all the manuals, overlays, controllers, etc. I love all the old systems. I had a Colecovision Ultimate Flashback but I got a lot of work to get it up to date, so I'll just toss CV on the current PC for now. I do have some catching up on the Intellivision front, but its hard to keep up on all this retro stuff and of course real life stuff too.
  5. @Living Room Arcade Awesome news. I just started building a mini-PC system for the Atari 7800,I'll be adding the latest Stella and 2600 games as well, plus Colecovision.

    Carnival

I'd love to see a Carnival release for the 7800 version too with extra stages, perhaps one that simulated the shooting range in the old amusement parks, etc. Where things pop up and you have to shoot them quickly before they go back down. Also, the ones that have all sorts of animals, bottles, a piano player, etc. and when you successfully shoot the little target on or near the prop it animates such as the piano player wakes up and starts playing the piano for 10 seconds or so, the animals might move back and forth a bit, etc. I used to love those shooting galleries. Playland in Rye, NY had/has a great one I loved playing it even more than playing the classic arcade games in the nearby arcade back in the day (early/mid 1980s). Hopefully a version of Carnival like Venture for the 7800 will be released with extra stages and unlike Venture, with high score saving as well.
  7. New question... Is there a way to have separate cfg or ini files in A7800 per game? I know it can be done in MAME, but I'm not seeing any options to do that in A7800. The reason I'm asking is because I'm noticing that certain games will fit perfectly within my layout/bezel but others are too small or too wide/tall and I have to adjust the width and height of the game. The problem is that if I change it for one game it changes it for all and that ends up screwing up the viewscreen area. I hope it may be possible to have individual .cfg or .ini files for each game. Any help is appreciated. John PS: I just tried to make a game specific .cfg file in the A7800\cfg folder. It didn't do anything so I guess that won't work. I didn't see any other game related ini or cfg files in the other subfolders for A7800.
  8. Ok... I got it working and this was easy! I figured I should post my findings in case others visit these forums down the road looking for help related to the layout or bezel files for the A7800 emulator. First, I found this site and downloaded this file. I opened it and followed the readme within. https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/file/1954-mame-atari-7800-software-system-custom-artwork-file/ I then found the bezel project, downloaded it and ran the program which asked me for my mame root folder. After that it installed the Atari 7800 or a7800.lay file and all 7800 game png files. You can have separate png's for most if not all the retail released games or use the default Atari-7800.png After that I ran the Attract Mode front end, launched a few games and each fit nicely within the bezel. You could always adjust the vertical and horizontal size of the view screen area to best fit your screen size.
  9. @Trebor Can you perhaps tell me what I'm doing wrong? I had layout files working on MAME a year or so ago, but haven't used it since. I tried using what I had for layout files back then but they are not working. I'll try listing what I've tried with A7800, please let me know if you see something obvious or perhaps if you have a working bezel/layout file you could share a copy or template that I can use as a starting point? My file structure is d:\AM\emulator\a7800\artwork\default.lay (I also have ablaster.lay just in case the name of the .lay file must equal the rom file name) ablaster is for Astro Blaster and both the layout folder and rom file is named ablaster. When I try to execute the game in Attract Mode, it looks like it is going to launch but then drops back to the menu in Attract Mode. If I take the layout folder out the rom loads fine. I did try to research the issue and saw a few suggestions on how to get full screen bezels working, but none of them helped me. I'll attach the code for one of the ablaster.lay and default.lay files I tried to use. Ugh. The .png files are named wrong. Mine are ablaster_bezel.png and ablaster_marquee.png, not 10_yard_fight as below. My ini file is also set as shown below.
  10. I looked about and saw information in threads like Trebor's Rom Pack, but it looks like the dates for some of the released homebrews might be either when they were added by Trebor, released as roms, or the date of their last updates. For example Astro Blaster has a date of 2023, but I purchased that cart back in 2014 or so. So, I'm curious if there is a single resource that might list the date (year) of release and perhaps who released it? Thanks.
  11. @Trebor Thanks for the info. That is exactly what I'm looking for.
  12. Oh... one more question.... Can the A7800 emulator use bezels or overlays like MAME can for the arcade games? I think the A7800 emulator was once part of MAME or maybe it's MESS so I'm not sure if that feature made it over to the A7800 program. John.
  13. Hi Everyone. Quick question. I am using the Attract Mode front end and A7800. Took me a while but I finally got the two working in XM mode. As mentioned earlier in this thread, the game starts in windowed mode and ALT-ENTER will place it in full screen mode. My problem is that I'm going to be using this in an arcade cabinet type setup and there won't be a keyboard available. Is there a way either through the a7800.ini or a command line switch that will allow me to force A7800 to launch in full screen mode automatically? I tried using the following switches, but none seemed to work. -fullscreen -fs -full. I figured I'd try to guess what the command switch might be if one exists, but I struck out. If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, John
  14. @SainT So the GameDrive will also record the high scores for carts that specifically save their high scores to the AtariVox or Savekey as well as the HSC? John.
  15. Ok, first off I'm sorry i'm sorry if this should go in another forum, but in the end it does ask a GamDrive related question. I'm curious about high score saving methods on the 7800. Are games that saved high scores on the HSC, AtariVox, and/or SaveKey all compatible or does each of those methods work differently in how they save scores? So here is the 7800 GameDrive related question. I know the GameDrive has HSC saving, but does it also save scores for games that have save score support for the AtariVox and/or SaveKey as well? Again, I'm not sure if all 3 high score saving features are identical, just part of different hardware products or if each of the 3 pieces of hardware save differently thus making the 3 types not compatible. If someone could answer this for me so I can get a better understanding, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
