  1. Not 7800 related, but a friend at work had a new in the box E.T for the Atari Computer, and I asked where he got it. He said .99 Cent store in Southern California. I had to visit a couple weeks later, went into one near my parents house and found stacks of new in the box Atari 5200 Gremlins, Ballblazer, Rescue on Fractalus. They had a minimal amount of Missile Command and Ms PAC Man. I got a shopping cart put my arm on the shelf and swept everything in. About 30-40 copies of each of the three titles, bought them all. Looked at other .99 stores that day but they didn’t have the rare ones, just common. then resold most on on the newsgroups. This was about 1996
  2. Here's a player: https://www.ebay.com/itm/225077198309?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D241587%26meid%3D532eafd568e748c487223094e49285d6%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D284931239050%26itm%3D225077198309%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv11WebTrimmedV3MskuAspectsV202110NoVariantSeedKnnRecallV1%26brand%3DPioneer&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851&amdata=cksum%3A225077198309532eafd568e748c487223094e49285d6|enc%3AAQAHAAABIMFr2e4EmAnM%2ByHZkULYKDIJ4L66fOjNL0iupgt%2BzO1%2F3AE1t3mNirUYB96NktMCicMagiS6mbeTl0xquGODv9lW0NbN4yTyDc%2BdwroMWtcOSwd3x7EDgzFQXLipBbKElM7X834Il6NJ6MFHlKfw6W5befidq1CSg82CsT5xEiUo8JCKm6vfkjjdGD45IUhUsoGQLr%2FWZxUpAZVMuikj9SLGm6AQTXzWJ5qekqCEzZY3YFgF9g0hVFFphEjYfOY5C%2FIDHducmewjrWJtnxWoR7mD4h3jJlj2pm2QOPVFnksyJssOYnc2%2FNctyMbaAzhStzTgngwYCyoeM%2Fs1g3aRSY6dOea4hotVolnDW%2FIYMT6Kv%2BHwnaJZb3GfZ%2F99E6MJgQ%3D%3D|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2047675
  3. Journey into the Lair by MichTron was NOT played the same way the European version you originally posted. That was a completely different set up. Those were also PAL based and played like the arcade games. Journey into the Lair was played like a graphic adventure - you typed in commands on the ST, a sequence played out via the laserdisc player, then the screen paused again until you typed the next command. It wasn't played like the arcade game/action sequences. Very different. I saw it at a computer store back in the day. You need essentially any laserdisc player with an RS232 connection, and there were quite a few, all were industrial type players (for education, business, etc). Hardly any home laserdisc players had this interface. They're out there, building the cable should be easy. Sourcing the laserdisc and the MichTron software will be the challenge.
  4. Where did you get the Mega ST interface board from?
  5. Looking for an Atari Megafile 44 and/or an Atari PC-1. They can be complete, incomplete, empty case, non-empty case, working, not working. I ***may*** also be interested in a regular Megafile regardless of working or not (after the case specifically). Send me a note, where you are located, and asking price (pictures will speed the process up). Located in Vancouver, Washington near Portland. Will pay for shipping too
  6. There are certainly restrictions with media mail including that video games aren't covered (I ship movies which are covered). That is of course if your package is opened and inspected. Computer software however is covered. Video games, specifically floppy discs would skate through no issue. Cartridges technically not. But again, doubt it's a real issue.
  7. There is tracking with media mail. I ship about 5 media mail items each day, and in most cases, I'm finding it's almost as fast as First class (taking 3-5 days to arrive). Only first class mail has no tracking.
  8. I tried to buy an ST and monitor, reasonably priced. Local so shipping not needed. However unable or unwilling to send photos. Gave me the run around via email. Asked for payment with specific bills: old 20s, some 50s and one 100. It was bizarre and no guarantee a bank or atm would be able to provide for specifics. I said never mind, he then said just bring whatever. But then said I’d have to wait at the door, give cash, they go inside count it (closing door) then come back and give me the goods without any inspection. I cancelled. Too bizarre, was like doing a drug deal.
  9. I knew Dyer was FOS. When I met with him in the mid-90s (1994 to be exact) when he was making his "rounds" to game publishers trying to pitch a "new adventure game with state of the art animation". When he popped in the VHS tape and started his pitch with me, I immediately blurted out "That's Thayers Quest isn't it?" and he said (gruffly no less) "no, it's not - its called Kingdom: The Far Reaches" and he was pitching a license deal for a Sega CD and Sony Playstation (early development days) version. He wanted an obscene amount of money for a format (interactive video type games) that were on their way out. When I inquired about the RDI Halcyon, he deflected and said he still had 250 Halcyon units in his possession. When I asked about buying one or more, he said no.
  10. See it in action - search youtube "Hotz Box" and there's a lot of videos
  11. There was a very good reason as to why Out Run (retail version) came with a cassette with the original arcade music on it. Getting the original arcade music at the time on cassette, I thought that was awesome.
  12. Go back to post #64 in this thread, you can see high resolution pictures. Pictures might look blank, but click on them

I owned the arcade game and the Lynx version (at the same time no less - no more arcade, but still have the Lynx), and the Lynx version plays pretty damn good compared to the arcade version. Frame rate is slower and the controls do take some getting used to (so did the arcade!). Music isn't bad, it has quite a bit of the arcade voice, and graphically looks really good. (FYI times are in reference to the arcade youtube video post below) What was a let down/disappointment is that it's missing the prisoner confession mini-game from the arcade (2:33). That to me was a bit of a let down that not only was cool (and quite simple really) but broke up the game a bit in a good way. When you catch the criminal, it's also missing the behind the bars screen (2:45). Finally, during the criminal overview, I wished they'd have used the voice from the arcade (1:24). Otherwise, it's one of the better conversions for the Lynx. Definitely recommended.
  14. Well I was originally excited (Starglider specifically) to get the original tapes onto CD/digital, however, they've clarified it's more about the remakes of the songs vs. the originals. Their plan for the original tracks is to digitize and then clean up the audio direct from the ST/Amiga rather than using the tapes for them. Bummer, that'll keep me from contributing.
