  1. Ok, so "holy grail" is a relative term. It all depends on how you look at things; all people look at things from a different perspective and have differing opinions or views about someone, something, etc. I used it to describe the fact this is indeed a highly desirable Atari brand joystick. Lots of people prefer to play their games with this joystick because of the response and control. And for others it's a must-have to complete their "heavy sixer" set. I wouldn't say that it's rare (and I didn't), but I would say it's scarce with only 3 current listings for controllers only in the U.S...all missing the hex discs, might I add. I don't feel like the opening bid is an unfair price for what you're getting.
  2. I'm going on vacation in 2 weeks so I'm trying to sell some things to fund the trip. This is a very nice original CX-10. I've played with it and it's amazing! It even looks brand new! Last ones sold on ebay for $50+. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 200777665827 Check out my other auctions for complete sytems, some with games: eBay Seller: strosfan74
  3. Nice CL find. I got my CV from CL too, but ended up paying $50 for it. It came with about 26 game carts though. Thanks. Wow that's a pretty good deal too. I wish this one came with more titles that I liked. I'm probably only going to keep half the games and either trade or sell the others.
  4. My patience has paid off. I've been wanting a Colecovision for a very long time. I finally found one on Craigslist and the price was right. Had to drive about 40 miles one way but it was totally worth the trip. Got all this for $25. Everything just needed to be cleaned up. Works great! The cart on top left is Miner 2049er...and the cart with the label peeling is Donkey Kong.
  5. So yesterday I had to get out early on a Saturday morning to take a friend to the train station. Friday night while checking craigslist I found an estate/yard sale that said they had an NES and a Sega Genesis. So I figured as long as I was out I'd stop by. I was an hour late to the party. Walked around and couldn't locate either. I just assumed they had been sold already. I stopped at the front on the way out and asked the guy about the systems. He said "Oh yeah, I have those right here." He said if he put them in the ad he knew someone would come up and ask about them. So we are looking through the plastic crate that he has everything thrown into. All I'm interested in is the NES. He had 9 games that were all boxed for the Genesis but I didn't see anything interesting there other than Road Rash II. As he's pulling everything out of the crate, I go to pick up the NES system...and the top half of it comes off. No big deal--it's just missing the screws from the bottom of the case. All of them. So he had all the hookups, 2 controllers, an orange zapper and 9 games with 7 dust covers, 3 of em nintendo branded. I asked him how much he wanted. He said "You tell me." I can play that game, so I said, $5. He told me he couldn't let it go for that price. I asked him if it worked. He said he didn't know so he plugged it up and the LED came on. To this guy that meant it works. He was trying to convince me the games were worth more than my offering price. Ok, but barely. It was mostly sports titles. The guy was going to hook the system up to a tv, although I don't know where he was going to do that at as I didn't see one handy...but more people started filtering in and he was about to get busy so he says to me: "Ok, today I'm gonna let you win. I'll give it to you for $10." I told him ok and asked him to bag it up. Got home. Cleaned the games. Hooked it up. And everything works like a champ. Got these games in the lot: Bases Loaded II Tetris Super Mario Bros/ Duck Hunt WrestleMania (OH YEAH!) lol Bill Elliot's Nascar Challenge Tecmo Super Bowl Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off-Road Silent Service
  6. Great article! It's amazing how good this game really is. I understand the history behind why the original Pac-Man on the 2600 was so bad--and I kinda like the 2600 Ms Pac-Man, but this game blows them both outta the water. The gameplay, sound, & graphics are all phenomenal even for the 2600. Awesome game and entertaining article. Thanks.
  7. I wish there would've been a few more titles that I was interested in keeping. As you can see there were a few dupes and some with label damage. Also wish at least two of the joysticks were in good working order. I was able to salvage parts to make one good one. But overall with the working Atari, one good joystick, paddles and Pitfall II, I'm pleased.
  8. For $20 on craigslist today I picked up a working Light Sixer complete with 4 CX-40 joysticks (3 with issues, unfortunately), a set of paddles, and 44 games. Nothing special in the game lot except Pitfall II, Coconuts, Fast Eddie, Squeeze Box, and a few Activision titles I didn't have.
  9. Got another one today: Atari Light Sixer Manufactured for Atari Inc. by TRW Electronic Components Company in Taiwan Model No CX-2600 SN 8116289? Has channel select switch Looks like it's missing the last number.
  10. Estate Sale this weekend. I missed Friday and Saturday because of work so I missed out on the CIB Atari 2600 Bowling, Football, Space War, Outlaw, Home Run, Human Cannonball, Street Racer, Star Ship, 01 Combat, 11 Indy 500, 21 Video Olympics, and CIB Sears Tele-Games Arcade Golf, Basketball, and Target Fun, that was pictured in the ad. Apparently they were $2 each. But what I did find today, the final day of the sale, when everything was 50% off, was this nice CX-10 that looks (other than the missing hex disc) and plays like it's brand new , for $2.50. So while it would've been nice to add some boxed games to the collection, I'm happy with my find.
  11. I just purchased my first CX-10 today at an estate sale and I LOVE IT! I couldn't believe the response on that thing. I tested it out with a game of Stargate. I played with the CX-10 for a while then I plugged in a CX-40. The difference is night and day. The CX-10 played effortlessly. The 40 is sure good for building a grip Like one of the previous posters said, I don't how I played with the CX-40 as a kid and not end up with some permananent hand damage. I had some of the Gemstiks as well. Purchased them at KB Toys in the early 90s for about $1.99 a piece. I don't remember if I liked playing with them so much as they were just the best (cheap) alternative because all of my CX-40s were broken. But nonetheless, if I could find CX-10s for the price I got my first one for today, I'd only play with those.
  12. I've been trying to unload mine for $20 shipped and have received no interest. Mine is not CIB and does not come with an a/c adapter...but other than that the unit has been tested and is in good working condition. It is going up on ebay tonight with a hefty starting price tag of .99 cents and will go to the highest bidder after 10 days. Good luck if you decide to sell yours
