  1. Ok... never heard of this one... tried to GOOGLE it but nothing came up... Does anyone have any information on this eBay auction: eBay item:Donkey Kong -Unreleased Atari 5200 cartridge- NOT 2600 (#140072618429) Has anyone played this version? Is it any good??? Hoping for a heads up! Thanx ~ Carly
  2. Pengo... this little game is so addicting it's just ridulous! The crazy circus music is in my dreams. Gawd I love Pengo!
  3. I don't know what to say... you know this all started cuz I wanted to play a childhood favorite BERZERK... and now I got the ATARI FEVER... I did decide to go with the 2600 / SEGA redemption cuz after doing research there are just more controls availbe over the 7800 redemption. I just am going to settle in with the redemption 2600 so that I can actually enjoy my games again! Thank you for being a trooper and keep my posted on all of my options. For that I am very grateful, you are AWESOME!
  4. Nothing is "wrong" with it per se, but I personally feel that if I want to play 2600 games, I'd rather have the proper experience of playing them on a 2600 console instead of some fugly looking 5200 add-on after-thought! You still need 2600 joysticks anyway, so you are not really saving that much. And like I said earlier, I am a big fan of the 5200 but for whatever reason, I just do not like this particular piece of hardware - it's one of the few 5200 items that I do not own. You would be better off getting a 5200 trackball which is one of the BEST designed 5200 add-ons that was available - even with the limited number of games you can effectively pay with it, it will add to the arcade experience of those game tremendously. Again, I am not saying any of this is fact, just my opinion - and sometimes I may not know what I am talking about! Well thank you very much. That puts a personal spotligh on my question. And yes I have the Track Ball coming in. What games is it used for? I haven't owned an Atari 5200 since like 1986! So I recently bought another one (well two... the four port and the two port) and I just can't wait to get a working joystick! I did order the redemption 2600 joystick converter from this site. I can't wait. Cuz out of the 6 joystick that I own, not ONE of them works properly in all fuctions. I got so frustrated cuz I am so excited about all those wonderful games of my youth. Does your 5200 Track Ball still work properly. I mean to ask if it has some of the same problems that the joysticks do in terms of the numberic pad? <<< YIKES >>>> Thanks Carly
  5. Interesting... hmmm... thanks for the heads up! Honestly, I love the 5200 but if I want to play 2600 games then I'll play them on a 2600 console. I personally do not like this adapter at all - just my 2 cents. Can you tell me why you don't like it. I mean what is wrong with it more specifically?
  6. Interesting... hmmm... thanks for the heads up!
  7. Ok Atari's Finest... here is another question I was wondering about... How dependable / reliable are the ATARI 2600 5200 VCS CARTRIDGE ADAPTER? Does anyone own one and have any comments on it? Do they really work that well? I was considering buying one but wanted some feedback B4 doing so. Thank you. Sincerely Carly
  8. Wow... now that is good to know! I am so completely excited about my ATARI 5200 SYSTEM. I shined it all up and got it looking almost "just like new" looking. You've been very helpful and I wanted to thank you "Paranoid" for taking time out of your busy day to respond to my trivial questions. Adventure ll is on my hit list, now that is gonna be FUN!
  9. Ok... is it true that the 2600 joysticks only have 4 directions?? Instead of 8, like the 5200 joystick?
  10. Sure the complete keypad & joystick went for close to 200, but just the joystick itself & Y adapter NIB went for around $60. Can't you just plug in a standard 5200 controller (with a working keypad of course) to the y-adapter and use the Command COntrol that way? Maybe not, I'm a complete 5200 noob, but it seems like the best way to get the Wico experience. Still not as cost effective as just buying some refurbs from best electronics tho. You know I want to thank you all for your responses to my question... You've all shined a light on things that I never even thought about. See this is why this furum is so super fantastic! To find people who still care about the old Atari Systems is wonderful... Thanks again. ~ Carly
  11. You know what... maybe you are right... I mean why cough up all that money just to have a self centering joystick?! Ohhhh mercy... decisions, decisions... Maybe I should sleep on it. You think after all of these years Atari would have corrected this problem and just put out a new joystick. I would really love a Wico Command Controller, infact two of them... I wish they were still in business. I can't believe they sold for nearly $200 each on eBay a few weeks back. This is just crazy... Thank all of you for your insight... I still am up in arms... I was hoping to get a landslide vote either way on the Redeption but that didn't happen.... I still think the Atari 5200 is AWESOME... even though I have 5 junkie joysticks laying around the house... All smiles... Carly
  12. Back in my teens I used to love the 5200 Joystick and when I'd go over a friends house who had a 2600 I used to think how cheap the joystick felt in comparison to the 5200 one I had at home Of course I was mad as H-E Double Hockey Sticks when the controller eventually failed me and I put the system in the attic. Ok... while we are on the subject... I was considering buying a Redemption 5200 - 2600 / Sega Edition but then thought that maybe the Redemption 7800 would be better... Does anyone have an opinion either way... I am ready to lay down that money maybe even for both sides yes a left and a right joystick connection... that would be a $100... so I want to make sure that I buy the best one... Please give me your two cents if you can... All smiles ~ Carly
  13. You know what... I completely raise a glass to you! So be aware that the stick you are using has a short life span. Ok... while we are on the subject... I was considering buying a Redemption 2600 but then thought that maybe the Redemption 7800 would be better... Does anyone have an opinion either way... I am ready to lay down that money maybe even for both sides yes a left and a right joystick connection... that would be a $100... so I want to make sure that I buy the best one...
