  1. All very good points @abbotkinneydude and spot on with the pop culture references! I do think both of them were "concept ware", it certainly sounded exciting and it's too bad nothing ever came of it Other items in the marketing slides are clearly being shown "in action" in the marketing video, like LETTER TUTOR (seen at 2:25). It was announced 1982 Summer CES in Chicago (June 6-9) and then again announced at the 1984 Summer CES in Chicago (June 3-6) but never released. However the video looks very convincing, the WORD TUTOR program right afterwards looks also pretty real.
  2. Here are the scans of the two press kit slides, directly of a Nikon LS-5000 slide scanner :)
  3. "House of Doom" was a disk-based text and graphics adventure game for the Commodore VIC-20 (VC-20) in the tradition of the classic Scott Adams adventure games. This was (presumably) published in Germany in the mid-80ies. Interested in ANY info on this, ads etc. - looking for anything whatsoever, thanks!!
  4. I did this video a while ago and used pictures and materials from Steve, Beth and myself. Currently working on a new version (some small corrections etc.) and was wondering if ANY of you have additional pictures, videos or any media that you'd be willing to share - THANK YOU! And please let me know if there are any additions / corrections needed. So far I have: Missed one of the Seattle shows Missed the Cowlitz for Kids shows
  5. A few quick notes: I bought my set of slides from Dan Kramer in 2002 or 2003, at that point he had two, three sets for sale and they were all the same (and all of them were missing the Atari 7800 Pro Controller slide) @www.atarimania.com send me a PM and I can send you some hi-res scans of the slides, they won't be much better than the 4K video though I think the FutureMakers screenshots are made up, notice how the boxes on the right are misaligned in Ground Control, that looks a bit off for a real program. Most of the details around these games are screenshots, including a few in the Atari XL Home Computer promo video. The very brief "action sequence" that is shown in that video looks fake as well.
  6. For those on the fence: these are definitely the real deal, I have the same set (minus the 7800 Pro Controller) and if you look through the catalogs at AtariMania you'll see a lot of these press/marketing slides used in publishing. Highly recommended!
  7. All the 2013 Portland Retro Gaming Expo (PRGE) videos are online at YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/cyberroachDOTcom/videos Enjoy! -cyro
  8. Hi guys, I am trying to gauge interest in Blu-Rays from the CGE 2007 and 2010 events. It would be 10+ hours of video per event, distributed over 3 or 4 Blu-Ray discs, price around $20 per event plus shipping. Video would be hi-def, most likely 1080i (or 1080p if I can fit it onto the discs), sound is pretty good too The 2007 discs would also contain footage from the auction and CGE Stories that's missing on Earl's (most excellent!) DVD set. Let me know if there is interest, no firm commitment needed. Cheers, -CyRo
  9. LOL Yeah, it's pretty bad. Not quite as eh... "retro" as The Plaza carpet but pretty close! But the exhibition hall is a huge step up and finally there is some decent lighting too! Cheers, -CyRo
  10. Wow, this thing is going to be huge. The exhibition hall is massive and the museum is the biggest that I can remember. Most of NWCGE folks are here already and I'm blogging live from CGE: CGE 2K7 Live Blogging
  11. Nice label insert, looks great! I am curious: what software did you use for DVD processing/authoring? Did you like it? I used Tsunami's Video Encoder Xpress for cleanup, noise reduction and cutting and NERO for menus. A lot of trial and error but worked out really well in the end. Cheers, -CyRo
  12. Jeez, I haven't seen you in ages. 890202[/snapback] Yeah My dayjob has been kicking my butt (I was looking for a butt-icon but I guess there is none) Funny thing is: this DVD was ready about a month ago and now suddenly it pops up here. Classic gaming works in mysterious ways
  13. Actually... I was going to have these at CGE, dirtcheap (around $. The video quality is good but not fantastic (they are *old* tapes and were definitely low budget rip-off productions back then, still fun to watch though) Rick/Lee were so nice pointing me to this thread to let you guys know. So: if you want hi-end quality with the best possible picture quality on 3 DVDs go with Mr. Retro's set, it sounds like that will be really nice. If you want the decent quality DVDs (all 3 vids on one DVD), buy them at CGE from me. $8 for the DVD with case and color cover (see attached). Cheers, -CyRo
  14. You guys made up! GROUP HUG!!! (and leave my breasts alone!) Cheers, -CyRo
  15. I have to confess: the thought had crossed my devious mind
