  1. The Wii came out almost 20 years ago. How can they not get a motion control game right? They obviously don't understand the difference between simple and stupid. Anyone else have the feeling the game is this way because their controllers couldn't handle it? People scrambling for this should just get a Switch and Clubhouse and call it a day. Darts and Bowling on that are way better and have proper motion controls implemented.
  2. I wonder if Atari knows of those vinyl arcade cab reproduction art that people sell? 🤫 Seems more like a cash grab attempt than specifically protecting anything.
  3. I feel like remakes of games that aren't that old are cash grabs and likely a product of people not taking the time to make newer games that are good. I think Last of Us is the most recent example of such a thing.
  4. He could be a good mascot but really needs a hit game that people widely like to stick.
  5. I think some of the scoffing at the 2600+ and its price point is that you aren't playing the carts. It's a glorified AtGames product that plays roms, and a way to get people to buy reproduction carts that are getting dumped. They could just as easily remove that cart port, lower cost, and just sell roms at a discounted price to run on the device. However, doing that means you aren't buying Pong for the 100th time at a $40 price tag. I don't think FPGA is a fad. If my Atari 2600 and 7800 die I'm not getting a 2600+. I will just emulate at that point. I don't need the illusion or inconvenience of plugging in a cart to enjoy the game.
  6. I thought Atari were duck dragons masquerading around as humans in an attempt to overthrow the gaming industry? Who knew they were human. Guess it's time to remove my tinfoil. I kind of agree here. If the game isn't shown, played, etc. It's just a prop like a Coca Cola can with part of the ID removed. The silly old bear doesn't even seem to be in the shot.
  7. It has been so long since I've done a playthrough. I wonder if I can remember how to get all of those. It would be cool to get a sequel or spiritual successor at some point. *wink wink
  8. Whoa you forgot some compilations. 🤣 But seriously I think I understand what you are saying. Really the 7800 is probably the example of them needing to do better. However, I think you need to look at it more from the time period it was made. When I think of older games I think more about playing vinyl or cassettes with music blaring. This is why I still think one of the best retro collections I've ever played is the PS2's Activision Anthology. Not only does it have some of the most solid games from the 2600, but they licensed some 80s music that you could toggle on/off when playing. It really was a nice touch to give it a more authentic feel of the time when playing them. https://vgost.fandom.com/wiki/Activision_Anthology I personally liked Safety Dance while playing Pitfall.
  9. Have you not seen many of their commercials? They are totally hokey and part of their charm. I loved the KC Chiefs ones. https://www.eventmarketer.com/article/state-farm-insights-on-engaging-gen-z/#:~:text=A longtime sponsor of the, fans watching the stream online. They are also targeting them on Tiktok and Twitch. Spots where the GenXers and older are probably hanging around less than those younger. Either way zoomers still know what an arcade is. I think part of why it seems like Zoomers don't care about arcades is that they have games at home. I'm not big into redemption games but those types of games offer something they can't get at home. I mean how many different ways has Atari repackaged their games over the years? When it is available literally at your fingertips on multiple devices, Pong just isn't that exciting to see in the arcade. Seeing Godzilla pinball on the other hand is quite exciting.
  10. You should eat a taco while waiting for them to backtrack. You going to get hungry waiting. They won't backtrack unless they know they are going to get spanked by StateFarm. You act like civilization is so far removed to not know what a generic arcade cab looks like. Even big newer cabs are in the realm of old ones. Redemption games were popular bitd too. I remember playing skeeball for tickets in an arcade.Arcade. Heck, arcade 1ups have been in stores in recent history. So people can easily recognize arcades when they see them. Since I think they lost the case with Target, I'd venture a guess they will on this one too. Unless they showed off gameplay or something its nothing more than a furniture prop in a commercial with its proper name even obscured. Does the other game look like a Mortal Kombat fighting game on screen? Did they name that one Get Wrecked?
  11. This is good to hear as it was such a good game. Don't expect to run and gun it. Be methodical with your playthroughs!
  12. I was going to multiquote but there were too many. 1) Junior Beefy would love that SW battle pod game. 2) I find calling modern arcade games shallow funny as I think many modern gamers would feel that way about old arcade games. 3) I don't feel like using a light gun and spraying the screen is much different than playing Galaga and randomly shooting. 4) Junior Beef loves the Jurassic Park gun game, but you do require some skill. Just praying amd spraying will not go far especially in later levels. So in order for us to last as long as possible we have to play co-op. 5) In my area there have been a few tiny arcades pop up to where there are more or as many now as there were when I was a wee lad. One has more old games. Two have modern games and redemption stuff. The one with older games is empty everytime I go to it which is sad because that's where junior Beef and I get our Godzilla pinball on. But the older one has no atmosphere either. 6) there was a point about older gamers liking score chasers while younger modern gamers liking games with endings. Don't remember my point exactly but that could be why you see a difference in types of games in an Arcade. Also I dislike the rfid cards. But Jr. Beef and I had a blast blowing over $30 to beat Jurassic Park. We even had a random young kid show up to cheer us on at one point.
  13. They didn't. It's why they used some made up name. A made up name is just as relevant to gaming youth as is Crystal Castles. Sorry to all the CC fans.
