  1. Do not have NTSC machine with VBXE... I'm interested too.
  2. VBXE was developed using only PAL machine. Quite a late discovery indeed... Anyways, I will be rewritting FX/GTIA core probably from the scratch. Someday. Maybe.
  3. Unfortunately VBXE Flasher FC.COM in previously published package was in wrong (debug / test) version. This wrong version displays "happy compilation" message at startup and is not functional - hence problems experienced by some of you while trying to flash new cores. Proper version is included in attached package. Nothing else changed. vbxe_package_20230910.zip
  4. I'm using retrotink 5x with VBXE 1.1 ... since yesterday to be honest. No problem at all, but I don't remember what I have connected as csync ... probably digital 5V CSYNC from 4050 through resistor in series, but i would have to check.
  5. My atari skills are a bit rusty at least, but maybe I will ask someone to prepare a convinient atr image with autobooting FC.COM and all current PAL / NTSC cores.
  6. Because nobody ever bothered to ask me directly? It seems, you all prefer years long discussions, I was not aware of.
  7. I was talking about CASINH connection to VBXE - this is already documented in hardware schematics / manuals for both VBXE 1.x / 2.x. This wire was introduced for compatibility with core revision 1.21 or 1.22 if I remember.
  8. 1 x 130XE stock 10 or so x 65XE (some modded, some as hw development base / spare parts source, some stock) 1 x 800XL (stock) 1 x 800XLF (stock) 1 x 1200XL (stock, thanx Bob) I'm not very interested in PLAYING new games on A8 because most of them are simply too hard for me and I do not like "casual" games - unfornatelymost of new productions have casual feel and playing-style. To be honest, I prefer PC as a game machine and its hard-core games like Half-Life 2 etc. But good game with good gfx and msx is still worth run as a kind of playable demo
  9. It's a shame, drac030 But I'm not sure if this missing wire can be source of your problem ... For me, Quadrillion loads fine under SDX 4.43rc (using X command and BANKED config + "A" core of course).
  10. There are even special ATRs provided in the package, containing FC.COM and XBFs in MYDOS and SpartaDOS formats.
  11. I've just recently updated the cores of my VBXE2. It was an easy task thank for the great application provided. But since I'm just a user, I can see no differences. Would someone provide test programs that work differently with this new core than the previous one, to see exactly what is changed? I also don't really understand what to expect/how to utilize the new soundboard core ... Anyway I would like to say big thanks to everybody who is/was/will be involved in this great project !!! At least, core MINOR_REVISION has changed try ?PEEK(54849) - you should get "36" or "164" now (depending on core type - A or R). It means "fx v1.24" core.
  12. I would like to thank you, Bob - just received my 1200XL via Candle today - this machine is really beautifull - of course it requires to be heavily modded before can be used, but even now it looks fantastic.
  13. Well, first problem was corruprted file reads via Aspeqt, so switched to APE. VBMP then reported core 1.20 not present, so I recompiled it to check for (newly flashed) 1.24. I then get this: Funnily enough, I got the same thing with FC.COM (but worked around it to get the firmware upgraded). Basically it calls the file selector with "E1:", and tried to read from the console. I press break, choose "D1:", then get what's displayed above. ...OK. I tried running it with SDX's "X" command and it works. FlashJazzCat: Do not "try" X command under SDX. Simply use it always
  14. Hmm ... VBMP works for me. I tested it under SDX, fileselector works and example BMP is displayed properly ....
  15. Excellent work, Rybags ! Congratulations. I know that feedback will be poor, but don't give up ! I'm looking forward tor your next release(s).
